  1. The real flaw... on How Long Till Virtual Currency Taxation? · · Score: 1
Up to this point, everyone has ignored the real flaw. It's not that the EULA for most games says you cannot sell it, it's that the EULA stats that you do not OWN any of the characters or items you play with (the only exception I know of is second life).

You cannot be taxed on something you do not own, end of story. On the other hand, if a Second Lifer ever makes a vast sum of money...

First of all, a heads up about more information from a diffrent source is not a sign of an impending dupe.

Second of all, when I don't like the reporting from a site, I tend to find a site that has reporting I do like rather than trolling the site I don't like.

Contrary to popular belief, nintendo has very deep pockets. The have a very large cash reserve they've been keeping for a rainy day, and have yet to ever dip into it.

Nintendo may not be a market leader, but every gamer I know owns a GC in addition to thier PS2 or x-box. I don't think sony or ms can "steal" Nintendo's customers when people are willing to buy both. Nintendo has a very stable niche market that isn't going away any time soon.

  7. Re:Jack Thompson is a waste of time on Jack Thompson Weighs In On Hot CoffeeGate · · Score: 1
A little bit of misinformation here. While Jack Thomson is an attention starved media jackass, he has never said (that I have seen) that he wants to take away the rights of adults. What he wants to do is make the ratings system more offical, and legally enforcable.

So in his world, you would still be able to play GTA as long as you are over 18 and don't mind going to an "adult entertainment" store... because no way is Best Buy going to carry a "adult only" type game.

It couldn't have been one person. One person does not to all the art, animation, voice work, scripting , and code it takes to put sucha minigame together. If it was as the Hacker says, just fliping a bit to enable it, then rockstar knew about it. Does it matter? Only because the ESRB probably would have given it an AO rating wich would have kept it out of the major chains. I don't think any kids were hurt by this, but it does show that rockstar is not capable of honestly communicating the content of thier software. To me, if it is true, this gives the nutjobs a valid reason to replace the ESRB with something else, because for the first time, the system didn't work. If it goes down like that, I hope rockstar dies a horrible death. The GTA series isn't even that good to begin with. I don't want my hobby ruined over some crappy gangsta games.

Mythic only released the engine for free, you still have to pay for the Shrouded Isles content. The only reason the SI engine is being offred as a free download is because the DAoC classic engine will no longer be supported once Catacombs is released tuesday. Not as generous as it first sounded eh?
