So basically your "work" consists of running around, eyes and ears for the people doing "Work" on proper machines. Perhaps, an Insurance adjuster, Assessor, Field Agent, or some other accessory function?
Judging by his market-speak I am going to assume it was deliberate in order to focus more attention to the subject at hand. Which has worked well so far. In the last sentence it seems like he or she just couldn't help themselves...
For $500 I can build a computer that will completely smoke your tablet.
My use case as a systems engineer is not compatible with the form in which an ipad is designed. Doctors, Lawyers, Law enforcement, insurance adjusters and other professions that need portable computing power can afford to trade off performance for function. In this regard their primary focus is not the interface through which their data flows. There focus is the task at hand, through which the ipad is merely an accessory that facilitates movement of data. Data that could be entered just as easily, and probably with more attention to detail in the report by typing it up on a PC.
Sold as an accessory it truly is the missing link in the computing industry. but as a computer professional, I won't be doing serious work through an accessory. I will use the right tool for the job. And for me, that's a PC with a screen, an efficient keyboard, and a device I can upgrade, without replacing like it's an expensive toaster.
It's called a work ethic and companies that are getting things done are burying companies playing touchy feely with their HR Depts and playing cubicle games.
I had the misfortune of being a liaison to one of these companies. This kind of behavior is unacceptable rubbish of the highest stinking order.
Same here. I wager it's those that drive practically laying down that are falling asleep. I say connect the electrodes to a Tesla coil and see how fast those asses sit up!
What Darpa wants is another resource rich land to invade, colonize and populate. But what's likely to happen is they land on a planet, call it Plymouth Rock, smoke the rock and marry into the local tribes and vanish without a trace.
Then we will send more people to overthrown the indigenous people in the name of science, the crown, or my left shoe, kill most of them, marry into the rest and declare their independence from the Homeworld.
Next will ensue a series of wars as this new people struggle with an identity crisis until it's solved with another more sinister enemy to revile or they have run out of resources to exploit.
Missing my modpoints right now. This deserves a point up.
Last I knew, red shift and blue shift happened because of the shift in the Visible light spectrum. One was it's moving away from us, the other because it's coming towards us.
I about shat myself when I read the article saying it's a measure of distance. But these whack jobs have degrees and are intellectuals. We have to believe everything they say.
Don't forget the holding tank for all the water that's going to be turned to steam to turn the turbines... This thing might run better on rails. Or stationary, as a safe alternative to current nuclear power...
OP didn't claim it was dead. It sounded to me like he *wanted* it dead. Add me to that list please.
Wait, this is America, and people spent money in College learning it. Perhaps the government should subsidy the language and offer incentives to companies that hire these people...
People will hate regardless of what is said or how it is spoken. If you think any utterance will encourage or dissuade someone that has already made the decision engage in violence you are sadly delusional.
I try to live my life like in such a fashion that I can be open about everything I do on facebook if I so chose. And patently, if my co workers or employers had problems with who I am after hours then I might want to find people to work with that are more like myself. Granted this isn't a great economy to be doing that, but it's worked so far.
I agree completely. But I doubt anyone is going to buy an electric car to use as a generator or power reservoir. I think the emphasis TFA failed to enunciate was "it could serve minimal power requirements for a time" Possibly as a means to make the car more attractive to purchase when any automobile could do that today. Hell add a PTO to a pickup and slap on a generator and you're set.
Why build a huge single reservoir when you can have a lot of smaller distributed reservoirs?
In an emergency situation where I have the choice between lights, or no lights, I will be dragging cables to may car. Whether or not it's electric is immaterial.
We do not. Wind blows a hell of a lot around and the lawn would be a solid sea of lead...

Not that I am faulting your logic, but I was wondering if you could shed some light on your perspective of common sense in regards to co workers.
