a few models vs thousands of models and the story submitter is surprised that it can be the number 1 selling model? The only thing I am surprised at is that it beat out the also limited model ranges of Mac's.
I have full ISO's of my Blurays and DVD's which are then remotely accessed. I don't get why people compress the hell out of high def video in todays age of cheap storage and easy high bandwidth when wired. try mounting a 40GB blu ray ISO over a wireless connection not to mention moving them around on the network when needed.
Streaming media within the LAN for a start. I had to put in gigabit cable throughout the house as wireless was inadequate. I wonder though is there anything in the standard to better cope with interference, wouldn't greater channel width mean even worse interference problems?
The US government currently spends close to double what they earn in tax revenue and have been for some years now. Do the maths, something has to give eventually. Either they cut spending by half or they massively raise taxes. The only other option is a downward spiral till they really can't afford even the interest payments, they aren't their yet but they still have the accelerator to the floorboards and the real cliff is getting closer.
3D would definitely enhance the experience, however such technology doesn't exist yet, the stereoscopic garbage they are passing off as 3D is merely a distraction and definitely detracts from the movie going experience for most.
These are ARM based chips and they are completely dominating, if Intel had 30 years of advanced technology they wouldn't be so far behind on the low powered chip side of things.
Nothing is ever just a check box, They need support/documentation and testing for the platform, testing costs alone can make some games non viable. However many of the bigger games if they have reasonably portable code could definitely be an option.
Yes just like unix systems. It has been a long time coming for them and just like a unix server you don't give a shit about a UI as that is for admins that are not competent enough to run servers in the first place. With 2012 it actually finally works well as a headless server. Their server has actually been pretty decent since the 2008 release.
We are talking about enterprises, any enterprise that cares about a UI has already failed at running their enterprise. one of the big benefits of windows 2012 is finally the push towards completely headless servers. it was sorta their in 2008, but far more viable in 2012 with huge improvements to file system and virtualisation as well as storage and scalability. The enterprises I work with have zero interest in windows 8 but they are already in the process of deploying 2012.
I will give you windows 8. But Server 2012 is basically completely built around enterprise and while win 8 will probably be a failure in the enterprise, server 2012 will be a huge success with many large functionality upgrades.
I completely disagree, Apple is struggling more and more against its competition with very little innovation in the last few years and is still reliant on just 2 products to stay relevant in the market today. MS and Apple need each other, If MS instead push more droid and apple tablets with office then Apples inflated profits will suffer.
excuse my ignorance if I am off base but Isn't a vector just a different way of targeting your pixels on the screen? isn't this just a different way of describing which pixels to activate? and if so how does this remove the need for pixels?
a place like bermuda isn't a valid country that you compete with on tax rates. bermuda's tax laws are designed to parasitically leach off the fruits of another country's labors
the idea that you think this is about fair competition is a joke, a lie, or a delusion
^this, the only way to combat this behaviour is modifications to tax laws in the countries where the profits are really being earned, they need to work out ways to register those profits for tax purposes, be that through tariffs, tax laws that prevent offshoring or sales embargos on said companies that use these havens. Most companies don't even want to use these tax havens and would be quite open to being forced to do the right thing, but to remain on equal footings and maximise shareholder value they really are obliged to take all legal means to maximise returns.
No crocodiles in that part of the country but Mildura is hardly the middle of a residential area, it is a medium sized town (about 30k or so pop) in the north west corner of Victoria in a country region that is farely sparsely populated if you stray from the main roads, with plenty of dirt roads around the area (though admittedly all the main roads there are definitely paved). It would be exceedingly easy to find yourself lost in the middle of nowhere before you realised if you strayed out of the farm areas into a national park.
I think he is referring to difference in primary controllers. PC gamers love their mouse/keyboard combo, and hate console controllers.
This, We hate console controllers, we hate games dumbing down to meet the hardware restrictions of the console which by its very nature will have to be significantly less powerful than a PC to have any chance at being affordable enough to get sufficient sales. consoles are simply not a replacement option for PC gaming, it will be competing with other consoles not with PC gaming.
I never suggested they had an OS loyalty, what they have is a PC loyalty, most PC gamers, myself included hate console gaming, I don't care whether it is from Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo or Valve and guess what, we also have no loyalty for valve, I play PC games and to be honest I don't give a shit what platform or who supplies (though I avoid Valve, Origin, blizzard where possible as their DRM sucks balls).
Valve's Steam gets those sales because it ISN'T a CONSOLE. The console and PC Gaming market are really quite separate markets and Valve making a console will not mean PC gamers suddenly decide they like consoles. If the choice is go to a Valve console or find another way to buy your games I would hazard a guess most PC gamers will simply find another method to buy games.
How is yet another console a real game changer? PC Gamers have had the options of consoles for decades, they just aren't appealing, a locked down ecosystem that is dictated by the manufacturer, in this case valve. This will be competing against the PS/Xbox/WiiU, yes it will be interesting to see how it goes against them but it is DOA as a gaming machine replacement.
while 750k seems unreasonable, so does sub-10k. "If" she has made unsubstantiated claims or just outright lied then she really should be held responsible for any decline in their business, if that is 100 or 200k (or even 750k) then that is her bad luck and the judge should certainly impose that cost. Business's shouldn't have to wear the costs of morons. Now this isn't to say the company is in the right, they could well be total sleeze bags that deserve everything said, but the onus is on the person making the claim to have evidence to prove that. simply being uneducated of the consequences of your statement should not excuse you for the damage you cause.
flagship product? ummmm no. Just because something is profitable doesn't mean there are no good reasons to shut it down. It could be anything from hardware replacement costs were on the horizon to they think that allocating the resources from CoH to something else has the potential to make them a better return to they can see the writing on the wall with the dwindling population.
This article only talks about very old deprecated algorithms which to be quite honest if you are reliant on those for your security you have far more trouble then just weak passwords or someone brute forcing. NTLMv2 has been in available for use in windows since the NT 4 days and LM/NTLM were off by default from vista onwards.

The United Nations has as much power on the world stage as your average mall cop has in directing the military.

catching up fast definitely, 30 years ahead of everyone else is utter bullshit dribbling out of the OP's mouth.

Your lack of faith in the quality of our fools is disturbing as is your naivety in believing they read as much as half the summary.

Then she will have no problems in court with this law suit is she can show everything she said is true.
