Actually, you are part right. It's the web portal for our payroll system. It's not that it's old, it's that our business office backend is Great Plains, which is a Microsoft product. So naturally getting web apps to tie into it and be platform independent is tough.
The Emperor and Bad Anakin wore hoods, and I think Obi Wan would sometimes wear his hood in New Hope, but that seems more like a desert thing than a jedi thing. There could be other examples but this is about as much time and effort that I want to spend writing about some Star Wars tools.
Obi Wan and Qui Gon both wore hoods at the beginning of The Phantom Menace. Obi Wan wears his a couple times in Attack of the Clones, although I believe this was on Camino and it was raining.
Personally I don't think it's part of the Jedi "religion" that you are required to wear a hood at all time and I would certainly think that a Jedi would respectfully remove his/her hood as one would do a hat.
I think the key, especially for your parents, is making it very obvious as to whether you are closing or backgrounding a program. That's one of the things I hate about my Blackberry Curve 8330. Almost every app is different, some you "Exit", some you "Close", some close when you hit the back button, some stay open when you hit the back button.
It makes it a pain in the ass to try and figure out what all you have running.
Well for one thing, Verizon had a habit of forcing RIM to remove WiFi from their Blackberry models for a while there (Speaking as a Curve 8330 owner). The iPhone is just a natural place for them to expand next. Maybe they will start to branch out into other cell phone platforms down the road, but for now it makes sense to go where the buzz is.
Superman is not a man. He is an alien from the planet Krypton. So this is NOT "the first time a man flew without mechanical aid."
Technically the word man is defined as "an adult male person, as distinguished from a boy or a woman." So judging by the bulge in his pants, we assume he's a man. Granted arguments can be made that you never see his penis in the comic. And I suppose we are assuming that given his age his species would consider him to be a man and not a boy.
Val Kilmer rides a old Russian rocket to safety after killing a military robot which for some reason didn't have its search and destroy switch permanently turned to off before leaving Earth.
I work for a school district as a computer tech and spend quite a bit of time at a large K-6 school. As part of my job, I handle the data transfer between their student information system and their grading system. I cannot recall a student at the school ever being held back a year. Either the school has the smartest kids in the area or they don't want to face reality.
I'm going to guess the reason is that they don't want to actually make someone feel bad about themselves.
This seems to be the common theme for the past couple of decades. The theory being that we can't do anything that will hurt a child's self-esteem. But we are really doing a disservice to those children by not preparing them for the real world. A world where everyone doesn't get a turn at bat and a trophy at the end of the day.
It only plays video from the apple store but the iPod et al already do that albeit on smaller screens.
That's like saying that an iPod only plays music from the iTunes Store. There are many programs out there that will rip and convert your DVD collection to an iPod/iPhone friendly format.
I do think you have some valid points. As it stands the iPad is definitely a niche device. I personally don't fit into the niche this device is designed to appeal to. It doesn't allow me to replace my MacBook Pro and it isn't as convenient to carry around as my iPod Touch.
To me this doesn't fit into the Netbook space between Smartphones and Laptops. It creates yet another level between Smartphones and Netbooks in which to live.
But hopefully Apple will follow the course it did with the iPhone and correct some of the big feature holes in upcoming versions. But for now, I think this is more of a device for the hardcore fanboys.
One sure way of testing... iPod Touch. If it works on there then no minutes required.
Doesn't look like it works. I get an error that says "Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid."
It could be the content filter here at work messing things up, but I doubt it. You can't place a call on the Google Voice website and use a headphone/mic setup on your computer, it just rings one of your phones.
I do think they should bump up the battery a bit for those of us who have a commute greater than 40 miles. I work at 3 different locations and my average commute each day for the work week is 87.56 miles. That's not including any errands I have to run or if I have to go between buildings during the day.
As you might guess I'm quite excited at the prospect of not having to spend as much on gas. I'm just thinking that we should build these things with the lowest common denominator in mind.
Yes, and why would I want an iPhone when I could carry around a cell phone, a music player, a PDA, a game boy, and a thousand other little devices.
The whole point of the iPhone is to replace all of those 1-use devices. The same is true of the Apple tablet, to replace the need to carry an e-book reader, PDA and netbook with one device.
And how many iPhone apps have their graphics designed in the size that they appear on the iPhone. I'm guessing most companies develop a larger version and scale the artwork down. But that's just a guess. But in all the work I've done, it's always easier to work on a larger version and then scale down for the final product.
But what about software for it. I think part of the anticipation of the Apple tablet is that it will be a larger iPod Touch with added functionality. If the Apple tablet can run iPhone apps it already has a huge advantage over the Microsoft tablet, more so if it can also run OS X apps.
What software would the Microsoft tablet run? Windows 7? It will have all the speed of a netbook. Windows Mobile? It will be DOA if it runs Windows Mobile.
As a side note, how much do you want to bet that Microsoft somehow tries to connect their tablet to Xbox Live?
No but I'm now going to have to go back and watch that scene.
I find it hard to believe that Lucas would think of that small a detail.

I realize I can disable it. I want people to stop coding web apps with it. What is the point of making a web app that is tied to one platform?
IE9 won't have Adblock, so who cares?
Or Flashblock.
As long as it continues to support Active-X, I have no use for it.
Well then the only sensible course of action is to outlaw religion.

god I love you people. Now off to watch that movie.
Hell I'd love this so I could watch in bed while my wife is sleeping.

Stop. You are producing friction which is contributing to global warming.
I vote we make that a feature. Seriously, screw car alarms. I want my car to electrocute potential thieves (annoying neighbor kids, etc....).
Or directly from Zoofnin's sun. More energy there than on their planet.
Actually this does beg the question of how long until we have a working ZPM.
We'll be fine as long as their powerz level isn't over 9000.

I love this movie. Time to see if it's on Netflix streaming.

Super Ipod Touch would be the Iphone, you want the "Jumbo Ipod Touch"
Well I was going for a Super Mario Brothers reference. You know, the whole mushroom growth thing.
and spin this as a terrible loss, which will unfortunately cause them to come up with a better name.
My vote for the new name is "Super iPod Touch"

Ha, that's nothing. Mine is 920 miles away.
