  1. Lots of linux netbook returns? news to me on Lenovo On the Future of the Netbook · · Score: 1

Go to dells refurb/returned system site http://www.dell.com/outlet/ and look at the dell mini9 systems. Currently I see 40 windows based netbooks and 1 linux based system. Sounds like windows systems get returned much more often to me. Typically the ubuntu based systems stay on the refurb site for a very short time, a month ago I spent a week trying to get one (I finally did get one after hitting F5 I don't even know how many times) during that time 3 showed up on dells site 2 of which I didn't get because someone else was faster then me at buying it.

Shares ending with $ aren't shown when browsing \\computername from a windows PC. Other methods of looking at shares such as using konqueror are quite happy to show you anything shared regardless of if there is a $ at the end. Remember kids security by obscurity is useless especially when you rely on the client to provide your obscurity not the server. Samba gets this right with the browsable = no directive, alhtough it also supports this fake "please pretend I didn't tell you about this share" behavior if you end a share name with a $ too. You would be correct, execpt what has been relesed is not the player key. In fact the player (device) key is one of the two that have not been released, the other one being the root key held by AACS LA. The key that has just been released and reusulted in this article is the processing key which can (and probably will) be changed for any disc authored after the previous key bacame known. The key difference is that the player key is linked to the specific player whereas the processing key is specific to the hddvd/blueray discs created with it and will continue to be valid for those discs even after new ones are produced with a new key. Relasesing a device key would be counterproductive as indiviual device keys can be blacklisted meaning if you had one you would have to break a new player device (hardware or software).
