I met several Aussies on a Contiki Tour through Europe and they definitely drank the most at the Beer Hall in Germany! Don't get me wrong though. I loved the Australians! They were the nicest people I have ever met. Very outgoing, inclusive and fun. But, now they can put some tunes to their merrymaking. Cheers mates!
Hey, Thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking you got 25 free song downloads each month and was wondering what people were sulking about because 25 free songs is a lot. Too bad it's just 25 "listens". But, it's something right? Better than nothing free at all.
Yeah... It could work. But, I think it depends on Apple's reaction. Apple could easily copy what Creative is trying to do differently, thereby wiping them out of the competition. Then, once Creative is out of the way, Apple could go back to their normal way of doing business. Despite what could happen, I like Creative and I hope they are able to stick around awhile.
Well... it was inevitable. The venture between Apple and Motorola. Music was bound to be on cell phones eventually. We all new it was coming.
But, Wohoo! I'm excited. Not necessarily for the iTunes compatible cell phone, but for the concept. Sooner or later, all cell phones will be MP3 players as well. It's like two in one. It's like a combo DVD and VHS player. It sounds wonderful. Music on the go with no extra devices...
This new cell phone will definitely replace the iPod, despite what the executive said.
Not sure how many people will actually take the time to change the graphics???
Don't get me wrong... the idea of changing the pictures on your iPod and personalizing your iPod is really cool! I just don't know how many will take the time and effort to do it.
I'm sorry, but what is that about? Who's going to wear their iPod around their neck?
It is so inconvenient! When you walk, drive, exercise, etc... it will always be in the way!
Why not have an iPod that can be strapped to the arm? That way it won't move as much and won't get in the way of various activities.
This is so cool... finally a way to share P2P!
Will this trend continue to pick up speed? With the fourth major label give in and allow Peer Impact to distribute their music too?
How will all of this affect the Music Industry?
I think the Music Industry will flourish from this strategic move...
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
It's hard to believe that iPod would run out of iPods the first week of December. Don't they have better supply chain management than that? Don't they want all of the sales they can get during the holiday season? Why would they allow themselves to run out of iPods, giving those sales would-have-been sales to competitors?
Yea... I agree this was an interesting read. I blogged about it yesterday.
I think Wilco makes a strong case for Major Labels to embrace P2P.
When asked how successful efforts to stop unauthorized music file sharing would change the culture, Tweedy said, "If they succeed, it will damage the culture and industry they say they're trying to save."
Personally, I find it very interesting how the article shows that the declining music sales are the fault of the Music Industry because of their lack to find another Elvis, and the Music Industry denies that it is their fault shifting the blame to the Radio Stations.
I really like how it holds 30 songs and fits all on your head, so there is no chance of it getting in your way and causing you to miss the wave...
SwiMP3 - as if it's not even there...
Some record companies are wondering if they should play hardball.
They know that big stars like 50 cent draw people to Wal-Mart. They just don't know if Wal-Mart is for real when they say lower your prices or we won't sell your CDs anymore.
That could mean loosing big bucks in the recording industry considering that 20% of their sales come from Wal-Mart.
The big question... Will Wal-Mart stick to their guns and buy CDs from record companies for less or not at all? Would they actually decrease their CD selection and make room for more DVDs and Games?
Wal-Mart is definitely playing the tough guy here... now we just have to wait and see if the recording companies risk it and throw the hardball right back at their face or comply to the low cost demands.
I'm sort of thinking that Wal-Mart meant what they said and will stick to their guns. After all, CDs are only about 2% of their business... it's not like they have much to loose; but they know that the recording companies do.
I think that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) are entitled to take this to the supreme court if they want to. Personally though, think that they are just greedy and want to keep the reigns tight around what they own and such.
Honestly, I am not expecting the Supreme Court to rule differently than the lower courts. The lower courts had a good point about how other products like Xerox are not band from selling copy machines just because they can be used and are used illegally when it comes to copyright laws.
25 cents a track and on Linux too! Get out! That is wicked cool!
They are definitely targeting a unique and growing market...
Plus... it says on their site that you can get 50 MP3s Free just for checking it out!
Sounds like Apple is paving the way for streaming video and pay per view online if you ask me...

Well... I personally think this is a cool idea. However, I am not sure about the cost. I'm just thankful I'm not an early adopter...
I plan to wait to purchase this product until it is more common and less expensive.

Pretty soon we will have tickets to other sporting events, music concerts, musicals, and more on our cell phones.
Only... if the ticket does not show up on your cell phone... do you have any other proof?
Plus... if venues continue to not allow camera phone... what then???
