What happens when this motor breaks down? Does everything jolt while they attempt to fix it? Are there safety issues involved (think about that rotating building at Disneyland)?
It seems to me, given the +5 Flamebait status on some posts here, that there are a few moderators that have been pushing a pro-Apple agenda in here. Kudos to those of you handing out "Underated" to those posts that have been unfairly moderated down in here.
The iPod's image is a small object that is stylish, easy to use, and has enough space for your music. Through doing BS like this, they are destroying that image that has been so successful.
The only advantage of having a phone that plays music purchased from Apple's music store is the fact that people will be buying their ringtones from Apple instead of the service provider. Of course, you will end up with people who think this crap is really 'schweet' and they will use their iPhones to play music extremely loudly from the phone's crappy built-in speakers.
to know that we place our lives in the hands of such reliable technologies. I think that if we had our interceptor just hit the target city before the original missile, we could laugh at bad guys, "Hahaha! Your missile didn't do jack shit! Our missile hit before yours."
so I can play Half Life 2 against the other kid in the back of the plane. Then, after I lose, I can browse his netbios shares with Winfingerprint and download all his pr0n. Yep. I could see this really getting popular.
but doesn't that sound a bit like the press release they issued for the launch of the last update.
Not to bag on them too much. 10.3.7 is good software. I've used the dev edition for a little while now (thanks to a good friend). It runs much faster than the previous version I had (original Panther). The speed increase of Open GL is extremely noticeable. Other than that, I haven't noticed much else.
I bet this bloatware-IE-based browser will startup half as fast as IE, and have a 5x-10x speed reduction in loading times for web pages. So, it will be 3x-4x faster that 28.8k dial-up, so long as you have at least DSL-speed.
You seem like of those people who says "If you don't have anything to hide, then why are you worried about it." (that's about the Patriot Act).
In this country, since 1776, the American ideal is personal freedom. The government's role is to provide a national defence, police force, and a few other services. Government intervention is usually only permissible when it has been deemed necessary by a majority of the population.
Any thoughts against this are foreign ideals from countries where people are used to reduced personal freedoms.
How does this tie-in to the parent post?
Keeping guns "out of your state and off the streets" is a removal of a personal freedom through government intervention. Personally, I like going to the shooting range occasionally.
Vote John Kerry! He may not be the brightest star in the night sky, but at least he doesn't just STOP talking altogether as he attempts to think.
Bush disenfranchises me and my peers by making much education that could lead to the reduction of teen pregnancies and STDs among both adults and teens inacurate or unavailable.
For example, the CDC (Center for Disease Control) had information about using condoms on their site before Bush happened. Now the same site simply has information on celibacy (AKA: abstinence) and only the faliures of condoms.
He has also imposed the "Global Gag Rule" and has declared himself against abortion whatsoever, even if it is to protect the life of the mother or any other circumstance (like if some 13yo girl got raped).
By votng for Bush today, you are helping to ensure that my generation (and possibly yours too) will be one riddled with teen pregnancies, STDs, and many other problems...
Now I can carry my porn discreetly. No more carrying Husltleror Playboy around. Just scan it, load it up on the iPod, and now you have a porn archive.
Sure you could use it for other stuff, but that wouldn't be as much fun.
First, if the feds really want to see what you are doing, the Patriot Act probably makes it really easy for them to do without telling anyone. Next, even if the current government had the fastest computers on Earth (say 10,000,000,000 teraflops; not a likely nubber; you get the idea) and they could simply bruteforce anything ever encrypted, they would still have one hell of a time trying to keep up with sheer volume. Look at the info flying around and ask yourself, "Is it really possible to save all the information that flies around the net at a given moment to HDs long enough to search it all for keywords and still keep up with the constant stream of other information coming in?"
With today's technology, hell no!
Plus, if they got their ability to wiretap TCP/IP lines, everyone would stick things under SSL. Encryption would be built in to everything. Your web browser inserts "http://" for you. New browsers would just insert "https". By default your FTP clent probably uses ftp. New ones would default to ftps. New VOIP software will be SSLd.
With any system the feds could ever have today, the time required to decrypt info would make the ability to gather all of it useless. Nobody can tell encrypted letters to grandma from encrypted messages between terrorists.
Go try listening on an SSL conversation.
For those of you who might say, "The feds could just negotiate one SSL session with the server and another with you, then read it in plaintext!"
The answer to this is, "What if the information over the SSL session was encrypted in it's plaintext type state."
PGP anyone?
File Transfer = 100 RIAA nutjobs per second.

A phone is not a real status symbol. It is more of an accessory now. Like a bracelet or necklace.
Not that Apple doesn't make some nice stuff, but do you really want to see a Apple-designed cell phone? Phones would become almost status-symbols.
Imagine: iPod2
And yes, I have a +6 modifier to underrated posts.

Microsoft will now be making the anti-spyware product. Steer clear. It's probably susceptible to spyware.

Sorry, not enough blimps overhead.
Please try again later.
We apologize for any inconvienience.

Go Microsoft! Beat the crap out of that .01% of all spammers!
...
Wait!
*realization that this actually helps Microsoft*
Go spammers! Put up a legal defense! Beat the monolithic corporation that's about to kick your collective ass.
*realization that I'm cheering for the spammers*

"Guns don't kill. We do." - NRA Mantra
so how about Win VNC?
My concept is that you shouldn't put up an ad for a company that is being openly attacked. It makes you look bad.
AOL != broadband
Never has been. Never will be.
Playboy magazine. Classic and still popular among kids.
how there is a link on the gamespot.com page to The Sims 2, which happens to be an EA title.
So we have a page covering the lawsuit against EA that is marketing an EA game. Go figure.
