  5. Happens all the time. GM bought a couple of cars when Lexus brought out their first model to *study* them.

    Life *as we know it* might be unique to our planet, but life could have chosen a different path elsewhere. With all the planets just within our own galaxy, it's very unlikely we're alone.

    Old debate, but analog video would at least be watchable (like analog vs DTV reception). Digital is nice and all, but it's all or nothing. Or they could have added error correction (what was the codec BTW?)

    I'm wondering how many of those parts could be made on a standard CNC, and if they only use the printers for parts that would be too hard to machine with conventional processes.

  18. Modifying something in Perl without having ever used the language. The only background I have in programming is 65xx BASIC (Apple ][e and C64) along with 65xx and 6809 assembler in the late '80s/early '90s.

  19. I remember those. My dad used to have (I'm pretty sure he probably still has it) a 41CV. I thought thew card reader was integrated, but according to Wikipedia it seems it used one of the expansion slots.

    Many cars sold today are so integrated with the radio that it makes it very expensive to replace the radio (that is if you can fit a standard radio in the dash)

    Yes they can. put two 55" TVs side-by-side (one 1080 one 4k), and you will see the difference, even from 10 feet. (If the source material is 4k)

    Yes they do, but they're still offering ridiculous quotas in the first place. Other ISPs are able to offer much larger quotas, why can't Bell and Videotron? 60GB/month is not enough for people using streaming services such as Netflix.

    We already have something like that in Quebec. Everything bigger than 4.0 gets a 10$/.1 liter tax. So my 4.6 used to cost me 60$ more annually for the car's registration.

    It is kinda flawed since the oil burning 1987 Civic with a 1.6 didn't pay anything but was polluting *way* more than my 4.6, but it's a start.
