"The idea that LPs are better is hogwash. The only time LPs sound better is when they are mastered with more dynamic range than whatever you are comparing them to is."
That includes almost everything sold since early '90s
If you're a big company getting a fleet of PC, you normally deploy images on them, so IT costs are pretty much the same to build the image, or build the image+firefox
Agreed, and I've been saying the same for years. But now even the MacPRO isn't really upgradeable, so guess it will never happen. So installing OSX on generic hardware is the only way to go if you want a mini-tower
They're best business model would be availability and location. When I was in college, I could go to 2 different electronics stores that were less expensive, but if I needed only 2-3 components, Radio Shack was the place to go. More expensive, but faster to get to. They closed near 20 years ago in Canada, after years of only being the shadow of themselves...
They tried to compete with the big stores (Futureshop and Bestbuy) and failed. I remember in the '80s they had so much nice stuff, their 200-in-1 kits and Armatron come to mind...
I'm only getting 14 channels, was wondering if I would miss TV, but NO. Main PC running BeyondTV with one tuner, Win7 Media Center Machine running 2 tuners in the living room, Homeworx 150PVR in the bedroom on a 27" Trinitron XBR.
Not true. They are ways to activate 7 in a permanent fashion (SLIC comes to mind), or other ways via searching for Windows Activator. And yes, a hacked win7 *will* auto update
" It never made much sense to me for a rights holder to not allow a consumer to legitimately purchase a song, and then bitch and complain when the frustrated consumer finds other means to acquire the same song that you refused to make available for purchase."
Same goes for free stuff too. Wanted to watch some episodes of Trophy Wife and The Goldbergs on ctv.ca (like I can do for free on src.ca and tout.tv owned by Radio-Canada), and *surprise, surprise*. I have to enter my Bell TV account in order to do so. WTF? I get the channel for fscking free with my antenna, but missed the first episodes and wanted to watch them, and have to pay? (or use BellTV and pay an unhealthy amount each month).
I now know about a couple more streaming sites (mostly illegal but there).
"The "repeatedly redownload your gaming library" idea has some merit if done en-masse"
Won't do any good other than bust your monthly quota since it will probably get served from a CDN so should not cost Valve more (Unless the ISP is double-dipping)...
I'd really like to know what, I've never encountered anything up to now that wasn't allowed in a VM. Not doable (like playing GPU hungry games), ok, but not *allowed* ?
I used to work for an ISP and *many* customers would call back after we cut off access because we couldn't talk to them would say "But I gave you my login and password already, you asked me by email because you found an incoherence"
(their account were used to send junk mail via the webmail service).
Since people are giving away credentals by *email*, not surprising they would give them out in person.
What about letting nature run its course and study that? I'm pretty sure no one was around to save all the species that went extinct a loooong time ago. In fact, the most dangerous predator has already been introduced to nature, humans...
To be fair, even as I loved OS/2, it would have been suicidal for IBM to not offer Win95 while all the other OEMs did (in the consumer market at least). And its biggest disadvantage was (ironically) its win-OS/2 layer, meaning software writers didn't have to make a native OS/2 version, so most simply never did.
They are *broadcasting* for free. People with antennas can watch the games. You know who pays for broadcasting? advertisers. Bring more eyeballs to them with streaming and you will be able to charge more, therefore making more money. Same arguments as the Aereo case.

No. LPs sound better because they aren't mastered with everything at 11

When CDs go back to having some dynamic range, they will outperform vinyl
just go to ninite.com and select what you want installed. Everything is installed without adware or extra toolbars.

All the ones near me are almost always empty, my guess is they will die too..
I dunno, there are now some Jar-Jar mascots
If they can't sell them, they might stop stealing them after a while

100% cable-free since 2009. Now building a big-ass antenna (DBGH open-source) http://imageevent.com/holl_and...

Hasn't been true for 20 years

30 years for US ones

Don't worry, Harper is working hard to fix that

I really liked him in the Ghostbusters movies
Guess they never played SimCity...

There's even a third type which includes *both*...
But most people have (and only need) one computer. It's different from the /. crowd where multiple PCs is the norm (3 powered on at the moment)

None so far...

With the temperatures we have in Montreal, it would make a hell of an overclock...
