I have an eMule repository with a bunch of documents, legit software, a few cracks, Mame roms and lost videos like the Star Wars Holiday special. No porn, no warez.
The Star Wars Holiday special is *easily* my number one upload... 235MB of cheese in two.avi files.
You can *not* corrupt your repository with a broken commit.
But with your scenario you will frequently end up with a branch that is in an wierd state. If someone else checks out the branch while it is in this state, they might get the wrong code.
It's a matter of taste I suppose.
CVS developers have learned to workaround the lack of atomic commits (group atomic commits?), but personally, I like the ability to have a single clean checkin. A checkin should either work, or fail. It shouldn't 'sorta maybe' work.
And SVN has other nice features which bring it into the 21st centurty. Directory versioning, metadata, and a cleaner network transport.
It would be great to have the MSN Search results in there also.
Search for "Linux", and compare the results. A few months ago, MSN Search listed some completely lame, irrelevant entries when you searched for "Linux". Yahoo & Google showed very relative sites.
You cannot ignore the social factors behind a child's mental development. I'm certain that you played with toys when you were a kid, and that those toys have had been influential in your development as a person.
and pretending something else is true because you want it to be is intellectually dishonest.
And at the same time, you must also look at the social factors behind why women and men do different things. It's not all hormones.
When toy company creates a Barbie doll with unrealistic boobs that says "I hate math", it does have some influence on how young children perceive gender.
I know you don't think it's all hormones, but I thought I would just clear this up:)
Well, I started to take the survey... I was at question 11 when I realized that there are 45 questions to answer... holy shit. Not sure I have time to answer all of these...
Much of this disrespect comes from jealousy and fear of you. You actually know how to use the technical systems. They blame people like you for the design flaws in the system. They don't want their boss to know that they can't figure out the technical system.
Look-- we are now looking at a era where technical decisions are being made by people who don't understand technology.
For example: I'm employeed, but am looking for a new job. Many workplaces let you submit your resume via email. So I write an email-- The body of the email is my cover letter, the resume is an attachment.
2 months later, I get an email back saying "Where's the cover letter"? When I call back to clarify, they say y "No no, don't put the cover letter in the email. You need to include the cover letter as an attachment. We need to scan it into the Peoplesoft system." The person cannot figure out how to enter an email into their brand-spanking new Peoplesoft system. Is that dumb or what?
Now tell me, when you mail a postal letter do you include one letter that says "Look at the next sheet of paper for the cover letter?" No.
And while I like the iMac, and I recommend them for some people, and I am even considering a Mac for myself, I can get a PC which is comparable to the iMac specs (G5 1.6GHz/ 256MB/ 80GB/ Combo/ 56K/ 17-inch) for several hundred dollars less.

I'd like someone to sit down the youngsters in our country and try to explain to them how killing or torturing someone in a war that was permitted under false pretenses is morally acceptable but allowing an incapacitated woman to pass away peacefully is not. Or how the President willed a young woman to suck him off and put a cigar in her vagina because he had the power to do so was still allowed to run this "moral" country after he was found guilty of lying?
I think I understand your point, but I don't understand why you try to equate these three issues.
Using false pretenses to start a war, and to torture & kill people is much, much worse then lying about sex.
The Republican politicians mostly say the reverse, but then their whole idea of "morality" is totally hypocritical.

I'd love to get a new Mac, but then I go to the store and check out the prices.
Holy mother of god, there's no way I would plop down $1500 for a powermac when I could get an equivilant PC for 2/3 of the price (With decent components).
What's even more frightening is that the US got the EU to go along with the deal, despite Wolfowitz's horrible record.
Big deals being made for some of those top posts...
Here's the really sick part.

In unrelated news, Yahoo finally opened Yahoo 360 today.
First impressions: Better then Orkut. It actually works with my other Yahoo stuff.
I call Bullshit!
RMS is pissed at hearing this news.
Since RMS never really respected KDE or Bitkeeper anyways, both products decided to team up and work together just to piss RMS off...
I never tried Subversion, but i've heard it's quite good. Can anyone compare it against CVS and the competition?
SVN is like CVS, but with fixes for all the stupid annoying issues. You can actually version directories and metadata in SVN, which rocks. About time.
But which character will die in every episode?
Porthos.
Woof.

Here are some Screenshots.
The Barbie is just one example.

50% male, and I don't recall them failing where the women did well
50% male / 50% female would be a better environment for debate. 50% is very different then 97%.
Yeah well one way or another, anyone who works at SCO is going to be looking for a job soon...

The users of the OSTG sites are 97% male. Slashdot demographics are probably very similar.
With such an overwhelmingly male audience, you're not going to get a serious discussion on gender equity here unfortunately.
It's a bit of an echo chamber in here.

Bah! Bah, I say!
You kids never used the WorldWideWeb browser... it had a gui, but no inline graphics.
Bah, you youngin'.
I remember when we used to call our stripped down version of Netscape things like Mozilla.

Technology is getting out of hand...
Since this decision only applies to the NY jurstiction, who exactly is going to enforce the law?
The NY police don't have much juristiction in other states...
Please don't treat me like some first time computer buyer. I'm frugal, but not an idiot.
I was talking about Powermacs, and you respond with comments about the iMac & the MacMini.
Powermacs start at $1500+.

Where can I get a new Powermac/G5 for $1000?
