Is the author insinuating we need MORE government regulation? Yup, because THAT will solve everything.
If only the engineers were as smart as the journalists and legislators, we wouldn't have these "problems"..:-P
Why I (and everyone I know) doesn't see movies in the theater:
The cost of a movie is $18(for two) + food at outrageous prices. The theater is small, and so is the screen. The front HALF of the theater seating is too close to the screen to actually see the movie.
The movie is projected from 35mm film that looks like it's already been through a world-war, the sound quality is iffy at best. Not to mention the peopel behind you are guarenteed to be talking for the WHOLE movie (and if it's a scary one, then their obligated to laugh) - but wait - not to be out done is the fat lady with the pretzle bag sitting next to you...
Sound like fun?
Cost of a DVD? $20 - it lasts a LIFE TIME. My hometheater screen is ALMOST as big as the theaters, except it has digital quality sound and video, and the speakers are actually namebrand and not underpowered. Oh wait, and the projector has this really odd quality about it called IN-FOCUS! yes - thats the (preferable) OPPOSITE of "blurry".
The food is edible, and doesn't cost me my first-born-child. My feet don't stick to the floor, and if I turn the lights off I can rest assured they will stay that way. Same with the door being closed and not slamming throughout the movie.
Lastly if I do have to take a piss, or someone sneezes the DVD has neat options called "pause" and "rewind" (maybe thats why you paid $2 more).
THATS WHY PEOPEL DON'T GO TO THE FRIGGEN THEATER ANYMORE!
Not that I didn't see this comeing but last night on WCBS(880) one of the major news commentators was raveing about the wonderful new and innovative features we will find on the new windows desktop.
Did you know it will include
- transparent and peelable windows
- fast and usefull search functions
- integrated into everything
- icons that let you see the contents of the folder/file
- improved security features
So ummm. which of these wasn't implemented in the last KDE or OS-X or both? I'm still confused on the "new and innovative" part (as i've been using these features for years) so if anyone can help me out...
Someone's probably already said this but using a mod like "Hot-Coffee" to alter the game-play experience is almost certainly against the TOS or EULA or whaterver.
So how is that "intentionally peddling sex"?
Fight and you may die; run, and you'll live....at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now; Would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies
that they may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!

I'm not sure about the "good idea" part. Pretty much every major product they've ever rolled out, they found, bought, borrowed, stole or otherwise aquired. They have yet to prove themselves on the innovation side too!
No it's not. it's like Tonka-Trucks parent company saying "we're gonna catch ferrari". Sure there's lots of money in the Ferrari market, but not if you DON"T MAKE SPORTS CARS to begin with!
Microsoft - makes SOFTWARE Google - ORGANIZES and SEARCHES the worlds INFORMATION
Why are they trying to "catch-up" to someone they shouldn't even be competeing with?
If i'm not mistaken it's in the lawsuite it'self (if you read it) how IBM choose the Intel x86 arch. as a standard, but told Intel they HAD to allow a second source to produce chips on the standeard because IBM wasn't going to get caught high and dry.
Dell has also complained about Intels bullying techniques. This is both documented, and cited in the lawsuite (if you read it).
I think to meet that criteria we have to first use it in a (completly irrelivent)propaganda campaign while saveing the french from themselves, usually by defeating either the british or the germans. THAN we can call Freedom-Fusion.
Don't worry though, i'm sure there's already legislation held up in the sennate on this one. =)
Whats the likely hood this will be settled out of court to no effect, and forgotton about in the next 6-12 months?
Was thinking after this, the tide may change to favor AMD. But someone told me Intel and AMD sue each other almost continously, but it never makes it to court.
Around the year 1000 for example, it was much warmer than today. There's a reason why "Greenland" is called that: it had thawed and the Vikings could colonize and farm it.
Actually, I think that was the first great marketing scheme. Whoever got ther first (vikeings?) called Greenland green so they could sell the land, inspite of it being desolate.
They then called the much nicer Iceland - well, "iceland" so that no one would go there and they could keep it to themselves....
If I were a multi-million dollar porn-corporation somehow I doubt I'd be worried about a 1-time domain registration of $60 vs. $6.
will protect children from online smut if adult sites voluntarily adopt the suffix
What I haven't seen mentioned yet, is it will be a huge benifit to search engines - on both sides of the coin: Finding porn when the user wants it, and NOT finding it when the user doesn't.
As a note: this is similar to a real red-light district like in NYC - you can go there or you can avoide it depending on your preference for the day. As opposed to Atlantic City where every 4th store for the entire city is somekind of XXX shop. You don't have the option of takeing your family there, and not walking past these stores cuz their spread out EVERYWHERE...
And because it's new and non-standard people are less likely to recognise/remember/use it?
Not to flame/troll - but if you can't figure out what ".xxx" means, your shouldn't be allowed near a computer. God-forbid you see a (gasp) recursive-acronym somewhere...
Actually I never really used USENET untill a year or two ago. Now I use it regurlarly. It's great for solving gameing, linux, and programming issues. You just have to find good groups.
The one's I use have fairly low noise/signal ratios, and the same regular visitors year after year...

The theaters are dirty, and smelly.

Actually, it was.
Everything after WWII untill Post-September-11th were 'armed conflicts' not 'declared wars'.

At least last time I checked... Therefore it will never be unlimited, infinite, or free.
Not true!
With the creation of the Euro, Germany managed to successfully conquer France without so much as crossing the border...
Not to troll - but didn't this article headline foxnews.com and google.com/news like 8 hours ago?

or (as I think it's explained in the FAQ) try telling someone to go to http://slashdot.com/ over the phone, without spelling the whole thing out!
