    On the octave mailing some months ago there was a project opening for developers that where into PPC for building a new telephone platform on PPC instead of ARM. We are talking about the audio and rf-transmission coding usually happens on the arm. I guess new PPC based phones will come eventually anyway.

    I'm currently running a local TV station entirely on Linux products. Although our interface here is just composite to a cable modulator. It is still xloadimage/VLC/mplayer/X.org.

    On the inscape list there were talks about the rendermachines of Xara before. Especially using Xara's one versus upcomming Cairo. One thing I remembered was this render of Xara was full software without real hardware support. On the mailinglist people mentioned the use of it on tiny devices such as linux running Nokia's. Smaller hardware, bigger performance difference.

    These guys made a great rendermachine, it is cool to see they get help from the community to get more users, but also more developers. I hope nVidia would do the same...

    You probably forgot to mention that the resources (Marshall Plan) could only be spend in the USA. So there was a big benifit for the US economy aswell.

    If this implies every other organisation is cut out, in The Netherlands for example there are 4 organisations you need to contact before you can even broadcast a CD legally. A very small part of the fee you pay will go to the artist, composer and writer.

    This organisation could potentially be a very good thing. Though it must stay small, otherwise most of the money will, again, go to the bureaucrats.

    No I don't... he even started in GTK+, then moved over to GTK-- and finally QT was the magic word... But still... 4 hours compiling for QT, KDE, Rosegarden is no fun.

    It is the only reason I have QT/KDE libs on my PC. But there is something else very interesting in all this. Because the original Rosegarden developer started his programming in GTK-- and moved over to QT :)

    I do hope someday there will be a GTK2 interface for this great program, it will minimize the compile time a lot.

    I was really surpriced to see this site with the same target as I was investaging. Flac/Vorbis/MP3 database with ISRC. The concept of lossless is not new, but getting on demand-licences for the populair songs is.

    Over here in The Netherlands some DRM based download sites pop-up these day, I hope there will be a DRM-free and lossless initiative for Apple prices.

    Sorry, I wasn't really pointing at you more in information in general. People seem to forget what is allready made and start over all again, which was the unwritten thought behind it. If you feel offended by my post my honest apologies.

    I was first introduced with Q4L by installing Cinelerra, probably pasting the link was a better way, without the quote.

    Btw. The Darwin Streaming Server must have an open source implementation too, hasn't it?

    Too bad that the BGP part of Quagga is actually working well and the OSPF part is dieing like hell. So personally I hope for an OpenOSPF too.
    But since nobody is mentioning it... I thought GateD was a BGP routing thingie too, but I am not sure of that....

    But then again, a ultra-low powered PC+Flatscreen with Internet, why not :) Since stasis is not an option entertain the kids.

    Nope, what about on the fly fixing typo's your mate made instead of getting him out his mantra. Writing two functions at the same time, if the work is designed first, following by implementation it is pretty clear who is going to implement what.

    I actually like the working together fact. Not on a regular base, but for complex stuff it is quite usefull. So while we were having two laptops and a screen session to a file I asked out loud:

    Why don't we have two carets in the same file so we can edit both at the same time.

    If someone knows an editor capable for this groupworking please reply.
