    ya im with you, i grew up in the states, i was raised up saying the pledge of allegiance, believing in our freedoms and rights.. and now im that old enough to really start appreciating them and understanding what they mean.. but instead they are all being taken away AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING...

    my favorite is how they cut out 'dirty words' and 'nudity' on movies, but they leave in people getting killed

    so killing is ok, as long as you dont cuss at anyone (with certain extra naughty words), and as long as no one is naked

    why is this guy even a columnist over there..? hes almost always wrong, too general, and just plain clueless, i think ive read 1 article from him ever that actually had any sense to it, the one about MS getting into the 'computer protection' racket ;) and he was right too they've actually started it already.

    in my world people are only criminals if they commit crimes, not for having an opinion contrary to the ruling power. In my world you go after just the criminals, not everyone. In my world the government is by the people and for the people, not against the people.

    i heard that alot of peoples dogs wind up dead after eating the frogs also their crocidiles are even dying off after eating these toads, a predator so unchallenged that it hasnt had to evolve for .. what millions of years? is now dying off because it eats a bad toad ;)

    this has to be the funniest/stupidest thing ive read on here in a while.. also how can you get mad at an open ended game like this.. the whole thing is you can do EVERYTHING! should cab drivers get mad about the game because their cabs are being stolen in game? pilots get upset over their counterparts constantly crashing into things in game? boat owners outraged at the boat thefts in game? you can do just about anything...

    skydiver association mad about showing how easily you can splat from skydiving in the game!!

    im a programmer, and a few years back i took a job at a game company as a tester, just to get my foot in the door, i already had 6-7 years of programming experience and several years of hobby game programming experience. But they just wouldn't let me do any coding, it was the most frustrating thing.. it was my job to find bugs but i wasn't allowed to fix them, and the guys who were supposed to just weren't that talented (except a couple) it also looked like they were going to fire all of the testers after the game released, so i found another job at a smaller game company as a lead programmer making twice as much (and later moved to another making twice as much again ;), ive since gotten back out of the games industry and am now making almost twice as much AGAIN thats almost 8 times more than at the tester position)

    what sucks is they did fire all the other testers right after release... (which is why i left games industry, employees get used and abused, then trashed)

    whats next? you have to store your files where the government can look at them whenever? you have to live in a plastic box with bars over it and camera survelance on you? concentration camps? thought monitoring? so you can be scrutinized and analyzed and your everythought crossreferenced with everything else to determine if you one day might think of doing something criminal? its going to be like the movie minority report, only worse.

    we are losing our liberties faster than we can blink, life under a microscope is not freedom

    when these big companies pay up to some little patent troll it just gives the troll more ammo to use against other companies, if NO one paid they should hopefully quickly run out of money for all the lawsuits, but the more money they get the more lawyers the more people they can sue ;(

    whats wrong with gmail?
    i LOVE gmail
    there are only a few adds, and they are usually relavant to what im looking at so sometimes provide useful links

    2nd, you dont HAVE to use their online interface, you can use ANY pop3 mail client and then you will see ZERO ads

    you can also relay any of your other address into gmail, and recieve them from any client also

    you can also SEND from any of your other address thru gmail, thru a client...

    so basically just about anything you would want to do with email, gmail does it for free, with fantastic spam filtering and like 3 gigs of freespace

    did i mention i LOVE gmail?
    no other free email gives you so many flexible features, they allow you to completely bypass their advertising if you want!!!

    but i love their online interface so much i just use it now, i havent checked my mail using thunderbird for like 4-5 months

    it has great filtering/grouping (label) functionality and their mail search tools beat ANY local clients no contest

    i have seen a few posts knocking gmail and i honestly dont understand how ANYONE could have a problem with it.. either they dont know how to use a damn email client, or they are too stupid to notice all the fantastic features

    well actually in my post i specifically didnt say it was in iraq because i totally agree with your view. we have no business being there, we were lied to and manipulated by bush into going, he used fear and our desire for 'security' to take away our liberties and make us fight a war that he wants to fight

    BUT those troops are our neighbors and brothers and fathers and sons and i want them to be prepared for whatever hostile environment our regime sends them into ;)

    i used to work at a company making multimonitor and huge multi projection screen games ;) we had a america's army scenario where you drove a hummer in a convoy and defended it from terrorists ;)

    it was pretty sweet, with 3 huge 8x6 projection screens it felt like i was driving the whole room around, we also have a M249 machine gun moded with lasers so we could pick up where you were aiming, so one guy would drive, and one guy would shoot as you drove thru terrorist infested streets ;) it was really awesome

    the company was www.lasershot.com

    you didnt need 3 machines either, you could use multiple output video cards

    wow i bet we work at the same place

    where i work also has the same irational fear of free or open source software

    (also you cant install anything unless its from an approved list, and getting anything on that list, even if its free and totally mission critical is nearly impossible)

    whats next, patenting linked lists? for loops?
    you cant write ANYTHING anymore without using someone elses patents how is bring all development to a screeching halt. or tieing up developers in courts for the rest of their existance supposed to help inovation?

    i dont even like microsoft but i think everyone sueing them for things they arent even doing wrong is terrible for the whole industry

    the democrats have talking heads on tv and radio?
    i havent seen any. not many speak out opening on mainstream media against the bush administration. (only barely touch at it with a 10 foot poll even on comedy central..)

    i have to get most of my news/facts from the internet because thats the only place you can find them, they just happen to be painting a pretty negetive picture of bush

    We have a terrorist group, Al-Qaeda, which has repeatedly stated they want to kill lots and lots of american civilians. One day about 4 years ago, they killed 3000 in a few minutes. This proves they're not just all talk, not just an imaginary threat.


    what proof do you have to support that?
    the fake terrorists (half of which are still alive in well even after crashing the planes they were on into buildings?)

    or the fake tapes of bin laden (which is clearly not him..)

    or the official statements from our government which further their agenda and arent backed up by any facts whatsoever

    it took me 10 years to beat ninja gaiden, and i had to cheat on it ;)

    i remember calling up a couple friends bragging that i had beaten it in 1999 (ten years after its release)

    the main boss could kill you in like 3 hits, and you seemed to have to take a hit to hit him, and you had to hit him like 16 times.. i had to save state after every couple hits and edit the save so i would have full health, then load it, and get 2 more hits ;) ... repeat 8 times or so

    maybe because they were doing it independantly?
    they didnt steal someone elses idea, the took 2 existing technologies and combined them, and they werent the only ones to do it either, why isnt palm or anyone getting sued by NTP

    i wonder if anyone got a patent for the on-star systems you see today..
    thats basically a combination of a gps tracking, a mapping program, and a car...

    its just taking two common things (email, and wireless) and combining them.. as if that wasnt something that would be done as soon as it become possible/useful anyway..

    what would be the point of letting players who ONLY speak chinese to join english speaking guilds? you cant communicate with them, i accidently recruited a few and they never participate in any guild events cause they don't understand you when you tell them about it. But i have seen a few non-english speaking players who are obviously not farmers.. but also totally worthless as guildmates ;)
