Seconded here. There is 1/8th as much content on my G+ then there ever was on facebook. However that 1/8th is actually things that I either find amusing, actual posts by the friends I give a darn about (compared to 80% of my facebook contacts... which were mostly people I barely knew in person that looked me up and added me, and it was less work to add them then to explain why I don't want to add someone.
I believe the fiat is that we first have to get several unmanned stations with some drones that are a bit more advanced than our previous ones. We need drones that can actually build a station, as well as do a ton more surveying of the planet to find out where the most efficient locations to set up would be.
They may look them over, but there were numerous reports of them recieving reports and ignoring them for years, building the next version of windows with the bug still in tact and taking no action, the windows help bug if I recall had several different manufactureres step up and say "I reported that thing years ago". While microsoft was attempting to get the head of the guy who released it after microsoft ignored it from him for 6 months.
Well there are trade secretes and all. The problem with software pattents is it is only comparing the end result or goal being similar. It is like the first person who invented apple pie, claiming anyone who makes any kind of pie after him as breaking his invention. Perhaps they can find a way to rewrite software patents from scratch, but the bottom line is what we have now is far worse than nothing, it protects no-one and is used as a sword against those who try to innovate. So yeah IMO they should abolish software patents in the mean time, and start working on a replacement system.
Very true, voting for president is guessing which one is going to do less damage, and considering all options are horrible and likely to cause huge problems, no one wants to take the blame of "I put this guy in office".
Ballparking the amount of calls/requests they get, I would say 25 people is more or less the bare minimum needed just to say "not without a warrent" to 99% of requests. Especially if you consider that some of the time, a few of them might actually be busy getting the information for the ones that do.
Well yes but I believe this they are talking about rapidshare banning the users on it's service caught pirating, not sending the FBI to their doorstep or getting them booted from the internet. Longterm you can't expect the ISPs to update rapidshare every time someones IP changes.
I would say it varies, I think the bigger issue is in too many divorce courts who is at fault in the marriage, who actually took the time to take care of the kids etc... are traits that are barely looked at, and often completely ignored in many cases. No it isn't all cases, but I certainly have seen cases of women completely at fault, neglecting or putting children in harmful situations, and getting full custody and favor over the husband.
Well you could have fairly negligable recoil if said missiles are launched at extremely low velocity, launching their burners after being released from the ship. Accuracy would still be a challenge, they would require rather good AI's to navigate, of course the target would also likely be on the large side, and have even worse mobility then the missiles.
We have to face that fact, capcha is just a temporary measure anyway. Software is rapidly approaching the ability to do anything online that your average human can. While computers rapidly increase in capability, the average human stays the same. Eventually the only way to tell a computer from a human, will be the humans are easier to confuse.
I mostly agree with you minus the "breaking" a few locks. Did he delete data, or permanantly disable any security? Other then that your analogy is close to right. He was in the wrong, really there needs to be a computer equivelent of "tresspassing" or even "breaking and entering". It is and absolutely should be illegal to hack without permission from the owners, and expecting compensation is even sillier.
Kicking down analogy would mean A. The door is not there when he is done with it. It would be a stretch if he anounced how he did it to the general public as that could render the door useless. A better analogy would probably be picked the lock to the door. The door is still there, and is poorly locked.
Well I don't know if that is the prime focus, considering their testing areas have been California so far, and AZ next. That being said I don't imagine ti would take that long for the cars to surpass humans in the art of dealing with emergencies. The knee jerk human instincts are almost always the worse thing you can do in the situation. When hydroplaning 9/10 people would slam on the breaks. A computer could actually asses the situation calculate out the balance of the car etc... I'm not saying they necessarily have already mastered such, but honestly if the goal is to outperform the average licensed driver in a panicked situation, I doubt that would be extremely difficult.
Well what can you do at this point, Foreign labor policies are horrific, but if you wanted to avoid supporting any of them, you'd have had to mail in your post via the united states post office (I don't think it is possible to get first posts that way, any legitimate company that wanted to avoid labor, would not be able to compete on price, and thus would be bankrupt in weeks.
I was with you right up till the iTard line... Foxconn and really china's labor practices in general are horrific, but it isn't apple to blame, it is the entirety of silicon valley, and possibly some blame can go on the U.S government and their lobyests for more or less doing nothing to discourage companies from off-shoring everything that is humanly possible to do.
Yup the internet will be as alive and healthy as newspapers... Actually maybe not quite that healthy, potty training animals on an ipad gets expensive, also dosn't pad fragile items when moving, or make very good craft projects, that's 80% of the use of newspapers for people under the age of 65. That being said if it isn't made default on anything, there will be little difference, very few internet users actually use ad-blocks despite ease and availability. As far as the value of tracking, honestly if you ask me it was a very positive direction for internet advertising. While I'm not a huge fan of it, I far prefer targeted advertisements over the old days of the internet when every page was, 1 popup, 1 pop-under, 2 flash advertisements with sound, and a 15 second commercial between pages.
What about putting VNC or any remote desktop software on the PCs. Warn them in advance that they are permitted to research, but being caught outright asking anyone inside or outside the classroom is an automatic 0. Randomly pop into different students screens from your PC. (the benefit of remoting vs walking towards them, is by the time you connect in, it is too late to alt F4 as they have no idea who is about to be screened, and no ability to predict where you are looking, or even know whether you are in their screen or browsing slashdot.
Of course, a human life was calculated at what 5 million or something? While if you have a RIAA lawyer, they can find a way to calculate out each song as worth a few million each.
True, but G+'s design is rather on the nice side, things/people you like are easy to view, things/people you dislike are easy to filter out. 7 million people joining, and getting some of their friends/familly to join etc... even if the 7 million are all jerks, it sounds like they lack the one trait that people complain about on G+, inactivity.
The one thing I don't really get, superpoke had a rabbid insanely loyal fanbase... why didn't they just port it to G+, leave it in the games tab just like all of their other games that can't annoy people who don't use it, and basically have millions of people with a reason to sign into g+ on a regular basis? That being said, I also don't see a single way that the users can even expect to have a shot in a million at this, games with microtransactions shut down, it is a fact of life. That is what you get when you buy image files on someone else's server.
Guilty until you can prove your innocence in a court of law, you know with the lawyers that an average Joe can afford vs their lawyers. A fair fight, just like rehabilitation in the movie idiocracy!
Well I believe there are solid extra motivation. Every politician is bought already, the big difference is who their sponsors are. Though I do also have to say in the short run fighting against SOPA may also have had quite a bit to do with who is in power at the moment. I honestly don't think there is a single republican in this race who has a decent shot at unseating Obama (not that Obama is that good, but the current candidates are that horrible).

"Hey Jim it looks like someones broken in, should we do something about it?"
"Nah just wait a bit, i want to see what they are doing and fine the source
10 years later "Aha!!!, I narrowed it down to someone in china.

NOOO we've all been tricked.... This is the askers Esay question for a test!

Also why in china attempting to create a union, or mentioning the desire to join a union, can land you in jail
