  1. Re:usb tethering? on Sprint Customers Face 5GB Hotspot Data Cap, As of Oct. 2 · · Score: 2

You are an absolute idiot.. and a fanboi to top it off. Verizon Employees shouldn't be able to post without a disclaimer.. but I guess it's actually obvious so oh well. To the OP: The only real way to stop this crap would be for everyone to simply show with their wallet that they aren't going for it. Just simply cancel service. The problem is that nobody will. Even if they did, they have nowhere to go. The axis of evil that is Verizon and ATT is waiting, hands clenched with a maniacal laugh heard coming from the cold faces. There is always T-Mo, but they are now doing the cap thing as well and then there is the coverage issue.

When are these corporate clowns going to get it? I guess there is too many Bobs in the world willing to give all their info and privacy and enough misinformation (read Media Jerks) that having a few informed opinions is usually discounted as foolishness or urban legend (They wouldn't do that ! etc...)

  7. Re:Petroleum Engineering on Ask Slashdot: Best Second Major For a Mechanical Engineer? · · Score: 1

I have to disagree with some of that. Perhaps what you meant was Petroleum engineers have the best starting salaries of those with a mechanical engineering degree, but I have to say Power Systems Engineers (and Nuclear) with an Electrical Engineering Degree command the highest of the engineering fields. I think the starting (here in California) is around 60K fresh out of school. Not bad by any standard and 100k is about 5 years away.

  8. Wholeheartedly agree on Ask Slashdot: Best Second Major For a Mechanical Engineer? · · Score: 1

I'm a multi disciplined Engineer working for one of the larger Power Utilities in the US. My first degree was a BSEE with a Power Systems Option and my minor was English. I would recommend that for basic business communications skills but I can also say having a BSCS to complement my Electrical was the best thing I ever did. Not only does it open my options if I was ever to lose my job, but it has made me the selection for a number of key projects that included both Power Systems Controls as well as the Control Systems behind the scenes. The Databases, etc... It gives me the ability to design the "Entire" project, rather than just my small portion. Can't say enough about that. There is also the option of getting your Masters. I didn't because in my particular position it wasn't a plus. If, I was to change and go into management either that or a MBA would probably matter. I have been offered, but enjoy the technical side more than the management side but, it's something you need to consider as well.

Well, IMO Tmo is the only of the large carriers I don't consider to be part of the "Evil Empire". Yes, I know, they are a corp. like all the rest, but they just honestly don't seem to be screwing me every time they can and openly misleading me and committing fraud. Verizon .. well really enough said, but.. Well, Verizon actually had my bill screwed up and they tried to tell me it was for my benefit I was paying more than I signed up for that month. They said that if I continued the same activity for a year, I'd come out ahead so I should not worry about the 35.00 US overcharge for the 2 weeks I was on vacation and they convienently changed my plan. iPhone? lol who cares? I certainly don't. I have had Android since the first G1 on its release date. I'm no Fanboi spouting the holiness of the platform but I can say I run a Nexus S now a days and couldn't be happier with my T-Mo account and the Rooted Tethering that Tmo doesn't really complain one way or the other about. Verizon wants to charge you mega bucks extra for the tethering. Did you know that on your iphone if you tether you are using different bits ? they are "premium" bits. Well, thats the way Verizon sees it. ATT ? well cut Verizon above and insert ATT. Whats different? Gawd I am so Fkn sick of the way the world is changing to this Fanboi kind of attitude where the truth or any objective reasoning doesn't count anymore.
