For the last 100+ years people have been bitching that "machines" are taking jobs and displacing workers. Now it is machines and efficiency taking jobs. Guess what? People still find jobs and do just fine. People were worried the cotton gin would destroy jobs, that the automobile would destroy jobs, that the robot would destroy jobs. Same old boring song and dance. Yawn.
Yeah, Steve Jobs went around with a handgun and forced millions of people, at gun point to buy an iPhone and an iPad. I know, I was one of his victims!
Egg-on the police now includes doing legal things, like standing around openly carrying a firearm? Sorry, exercising your rights and impacting no one is not a reason to be stopped or questioned by police.
Since when does making something free mean it is ok to pirate it? Free software comes with terms and conditions - just look at the various open source licenses. You can't just make copies and do whatever it is you desire.
Can we stop applying old world methodologies to current technologies? Libraries could only lend one title out at a time BECAUSE IT WAS WHAT THEY HAD. There is not a single reason to "only lend one digital" copy out at a time, other than to force some insane business model down the throats of people. Ok, fine I can settle with the "You need to read the books in 14 days" kind of thing to entice people to read it or buy it, but that is even stretching it.
You do realize, that there is the process of "amending" the Constitution - so that if you want to do something it falls in line with the provisions of the document. You know, they did build that process into the document, right? I know, silly founders - how dare they have the foresight to envision they couldn't cover everything and gave us the means to fix it!
When people with machine guns come and tell you "turn off your internet or we will kill you, your family, and just bulldoze the building" - I'd say about 99.999999% of people would comply without blinking. Your "protest" of the engineers would be nothing more than a philosophical circle jerk.
I have a popular App out there on the iPhone App Store and I have been toying around with porting it to Android. There are several factors into me not getting fully behind the effort yet (mainly there are only 24 hours in a day) - but if Google would in$entivize me to port the App, I'd be all over it. But so far the drive just isn't there.
I'll get around to it, but more on my schedule. I would imagine if they came out with an incentive program to port the popular and well done Apps, many would jump on it. Hell, even a free Nexus S and I'd be over it.
I am not saying Android is any better or worse than the iPhone, just many don't have the time to maintain multiple code bases.
Yawn. Some of us find it fascinating how one of the largest websites on the internet does its business day in and day out. It escapes me how people can't find it interesting. They are dealing with a shit ton of data and do it pretty well.
With passcodes, setting the phone to wipe on a few failed tries? Almost everyone I know lacks a passcode on their mobile device - giving anyone the freedom to dig into their personal lives. I just don't think people realize what a risk it is at all.
I'd also like to know which devices can be cracked in 30 seconds. With iPhone 4's full device encryption, I don't see how the key can be cracked in under 10 tries before it would wipe itself. But, I'd like to know.
But programming has been around long enough that 1) I am sure there is an instance of this already and 2) There have been plenty instances of bad things occurring already that it should have happened if it was going to.
I think facebook would falter if Zuckerberg leaves for whatever reason. Like him or not, he does drive a lot of vision. Take that away and add in corporate non-sense and profit motives (Yes, Facebook does have a profit motive now) and I think you'd see it go the way of Myspace. Time shall tell.
I love how stuff like this gets modded insightful. I bet the shooter will turn out to be white, just like the Ft. Hood shooter and the DC Snipers. Oh, he will be a Right Winger, just like the guy that flew his plane into the IRS office.
Apple does not "Vet" anything - the review process isn't regression or user acceptance testing. It is simply testing to ensure you follow their guidelines for UI and don't use "private" APIs.
Yet, Apple disallows developers from charging for updates.

Maybe you missed it - but Obama is a Democrat... He is currently the President / Commander in Chief, not George Bush... Crazy I know.

Should have been renamed Windows Mobile Vista
Sarah Palin, is that you?
Why would you be screwed? One should easily be able to dip into savings if necessary - if they so believe in what they are doing is morally right.
non corrupt country
Well, you could have stopped there.

To pay the 30% Apple tax on selling indulgences through IAP either - is it a consumable or a subscription?
God, it would be so nice if some company would just go ahead and make one to buy!
I wonder if one could find a stylus on Amazon?

errr i mean iOS4 not the iPhone 4
Do you even understand what squareup does? You losing your phone has nothing to do with it.
why would a programmer need to carry this liability insurance. If they work for a business, they are shielded by the businesses liability insurance.
