Either you're joking or you're missing the point. 1GHz is not some magical point, it's just an arbitary number that is a byproduct of our base 10 number system. 100% however is ALL of something, so that is actually relevant.

Why, back in my day we had to fashion our bolts out of lumps of metal with our teeth. And we had to walk to the store uphill both ways in the snow to buy our watercooling rigs. We wore an onion on our belt, which was the style at the time.

Well then surely there would be more difference in that parallel universe than just one thing then. Seeing as several thousand people just misread an article title who knows what could happen.

It could be written in the way that most of the world uses, i.e. DD/MM/YYYY, which would make it the 8th of December. Not all of us write dates in your wacky American format. Personally, I think they should be written with the year first (YYYY/MM/DD), because it's easier to sort, but that's just me.

Seeing as how LAME is such a good quality encoder, and is pretty much the standard as far as quality goes, if anything the creators of MP3 should be paying the LAME programmers, for making such a good encoder and increasing the popularity of the format.

Lots of people seem to be complaining about how science "got it wrong" and how we should all change our religious beliefs because of this.

I always thought this was how science worked. Come up with a theory which fits the data, and if new data comes in then change the theory. It would be stupid if they believed something when they had evidence to the contrary.
