People like you disgust me.

Hello, I'm a linux user (beginner) who decided that my taste is in debian and slackware, as I do really appreciate a simple, stable and fast OS and do want to learn - in particular, I felt by learning slackware I could use almost any linux, but wasn't sure the same was true for suse/redhad, and I did not like Linux distros that try too hard to be like windows. Lately I've been wondering about the BSDs and in particular NetBSD. Would you suggest I invest some time in learning them or just stay with linux?

"The iPod is a focused device that does its original intent quite well. That's nonsense. I owned laptops and PDAs. PDAs were always on, instant-on (unlike a laptop), with a battery that lasted much longer than a small laptop, and could also be recharged a few times with a rechargeable AA battery extension, and an unfolding keyboard accessory that was fullsize and much more useful than tiny uncomfortable keys on a small laptop. PDAs also had applications that were far more optimised for the small form factor than a small laptop.

Americans don't want to hear about poverty, Americans don't really care about the poor. A generalisation, but given the last elections, is true in the majority. A typical response from an average American of the 'values' majority is 'I know what poverty is and I don't want to hear about it, I know that I wouldn't choose it for myself' - to them that's all that matters in a portrayal of poverty, that they know it's bad already and that they wouldn't choose it for themselves, and as far as the others are concerned, well, it's no concern of theirs. To them, if the poor are poor it's their fault, it's their 'moral' failure; they chose to be poor, and if they be 'moral' then wealth will be their reward - to them wealth is a blessing from the Lord, and they sure deserve it and deserve whatever they can get, even if their unethical corporations grab it from the poor of the Earth. I have talked to many 'values' Americans and repeatedly found them the least empathic people I've ever had the displeasure of talking to - it's useless to tell them about the poor. And they wonder why the world hates them; well, having talked to them, may I be forever damned if I don't hate them.

Oh, and I also remember the TV show on Kuwait TV ~1989/1990.

Yes, I'm annoyed when in dispute with someone else they try to prove their point by linking to wikipedia, which I consider to be of little value as a proof, BUT, it's nonetheless useful, and here's why - wikipedia, and I have RTFA on the register and here's where I disagree, does NOT need to replace the web. It does NOT need to be authoritative and conclusive; it only needs to be a *starting point* to introduce a topic and its range to someone. Accuracy, as far as I'm concerned, is a far lesser concern. In real life an encyclopedia would be the first thing you read when you research something, NOT the last! It should be no different for wikipedia.

This paper is a piece of sh*t in its conclusion, because it omits the *far* right radicalisation of the GOP in recent years. That all three decent papers, plus NBC and CBS agree with democrats so much is because they are concerned with the facts of matters, whereas the GOP have been machiavellian faith-fanatic liars. Of course conservatives will toot their own horn, and when they mention liberal thinktanks they only do so to attack them - in fact, they're on the attack all the time. This is a personal information manager, not an ipod competitor, not a pimp toy, none of that stuff. I bought Palm machines over the years and I really resent that the crossing over of the device into the moronic mainstream meant Palm had to deal with user feedback that was in my opinion quite idiotic. This was a device that got its breakthrough for being able to organise your days, keep your appointments, tasks and contacts for years to come in pocket and within a click, and so on - but then the morons got on board and you had all those 'users' complaining about not being able to watch movie trailers or simpsons' episodes on their device, why oh why would I want to watch a movie trailer on my personal information manager?!!! to my horror palm went along with their nonsense and 'pimped' out the devices till reliability in build and operation suffered and battery longevity was devastated - battery life went from a month to now just a few hours, ranging from less than 3 in some devices to 7 at most in the most undesirable device (z21). I hate those who won't buy a Palm if it won't play a song or a movie trailer - just friggin' don't buy it and shut up about it alright.

  25. Because they are bad economy on Why Do You Block Ads? · · Score: 1

They are bad economy for me because when I need something I research the options and then buy it, and I usually only buy what I really *need* (and do my best to avoid its marketting claims because I think it's BS, I only care about the reviews), not something I was persuaded into wanting by some ad. Even if I didn't block ads I would still not click on them.

I suspect that they are also bad economy for many content sites because for many the content is just a bait to drive traffic to the site and hence run the ads, and having heard from writers they say that many website owners don't really care much about the quality of content if they have the ads in mind, and usually don't pay the writers much either.
