"it says that with the full retail purchase ONE download-able character and one download-able quest comes with the game"
That's what he's bitching about.
"It says nothing about further download-able content or how that content is or can be obtained, and nowhere on the box does it ever say that you must have an original first sale retail version of the game in order to obtain DLC, it only says you must have a registration and subscription."
That has nothing to do with this case. It's about the "free" two items that you mentioned previously. He never said anything about not being able to find additional DLC. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
that such offers apply to the new product, not the used product. It's a bunch of people whining about nothing and I hope the case gets tossed out of court.
STOP PRINTING EVERY FUCKING THING THAT POPS UP ON THEIR SCREEN. Dear God, I hate this at school where every term each student gets a printed syllabus from every professor, and then also has to print every assignment before turning it it. Why can't that all be done electronically? And at work, we have a MS SQL Reporting Server where you can look at all the reports you want via a web browser and/or export to Excel. BUT NO! Everyone has to print everything to look at it, and then they throw it in the trash a few minutes later. Once I got an email from a user who had PRINTED an error message they were getting, scanned it back into their computer, and then emailed me the scanned image. WTH?
If I had it my way, there would be one printer/copier and you'd have to have a damned good reason to use it.
Yeah, I think the reality is that they spend 4-5 years teaching kids something that they could learn in 1, rather than the kids not being able to learn earlier.
"A census is a counting, found in any dictionary."
Indeed. They are counting people, men, women, children, blacks, whites, hispanics, asians, etc. And obviously the government can't ask you questions that are illegal for them to ask.
Thank you...someone who actually read what he said. It seems like 90% of this thread is comprised of people who are trying to pass of their opinions as something he said.
What harm has been done? Did you not read the article? He (if these are real quotes) basically said that Microsoft could have a lot more people using.NET if they took greater steps to address the patent fears. He never said anything about harm done to anything other than Microsoft own efforts. Projecting your own beliefs much?
I don't think Stallman ever said that Microsoft "shot itself in the foot". Nothing that moderated comes out of his mouth in regards to open vs closed software.
I think the thing there is that Linux has not presented itself as a market worth catering to yet (as far as desktop applications go). If there was money there, Microsoft would be there already.

OH SNAP SON! So much for those skilled contractors and their superior skills.
I think the important difference is that Ubuntu is huge and Canonical has gone to great lengths to attract users, often talking about community involvement. (Even the word "ubuntu" has a community/group participation meaning.) Now that those users are there, they get shat on quite often.
"If you wanted to modify a FOSS yourself and lack the knowledge, nothing prevents you from learning how to program."
Time, my friend, time. We all have only so much time. Things that take large amounts of my time are the most expensive of all. People seem to fail to take that cost into account when discussing FOSS.
(And to head off the fanboys, using Linux for my home server has saved me time, so calm down.)
Or you know, just block the download of executable files over http via a proxy like squid. There aren't many legitimate reasons that a user needs to download a program on their own.
I hate the argument that "If you don't like how things are going in an OSS project, you can just make your own fork! It's so much better than proprietary software because of that!" The fact is that time and knowledge are barriers that bar most people from doing what you propose. I probably don't know the language the the project was built in, I don't have time to learn it, I don't have the time to get familiar with the project's code, I don't have time to figure out how change it, etc. So yeah, the code is right there, but it's useless to a large majority (probably near 99%) of users. There's a better chance of getting the current development team to make a change than me attempting to make that change on my own.
Also, it's kind of an asshole thing for Canonical to lure people into their "community" and then outright ignore them.
A) The box says "full retail"
B) Maybe they have a reseller license
C) He still got the "one-time use code" even though it was used.

Look on the left.
It clearly says that the DLC is for retail purchases only.

Who is this "everyone else" that you speak of? People outside his society? They don't matter.

Unless Icaza comes out and claims these statements, I'm kinda leaning toward them being bullshit and that's why the article was pulled.

"You'd think that a major corporation like Microsoft could garner more popularity than PHP instead of less than half."
.NET is half as confusing as PHP?
"Lots of questions means lots of confusion."
What exactly are you trying to say here...that
>.Net shoots the developers and end users.
.NET work and it seems pretty easy to use to me.
I don't get it. I do mostly

And everyone will wonder why we still call them "disks".
Uh...I thought that this was how Sun had things set up.

Well then, it's a good thing that Windows 7 is pretty snappy.
