    Because despite its name, it a radiator usually doesn't cool by radiation, but by conduction and convection.

    I'm not sure what you're trying to imply, it probably used the thermal noise from a resistor, or something similar. There are several well known methods for generating random noise.

    What about its effects on local DNS caching servers (e.g. dnsmasq)?

    If you run dnsmasq, and you know the ip addresses of the domain helpers, you can work around this with the bogus-nxdomain config option.

    Please also remember that the "compiled" output of latex is dvi, not ps or pdf.

    It depends what you compile it with, with pdflatex, the compiled output is pdf.

    Black absorbs infared heat better, not radiate it. The radiating material, not it's color, is what makes the difference when you want to cool something. Ever paint your CPU cooler contact plate black before putting ArticSilver on it?

    No, the colour of an object affects its radiative properties exactly the same way as its absorptivity. The reason you don't paint a CPU cooler black is because it doesn't cool by radiation, but by conduction/convection.

    Ok...so AES was thought to require 2^128 time units to brute force. So 2^119 time complexity means essentially that the new algorithm takes 2^119 units of time to complete which is a lot better, and they think it might be able to optimize it down to 2^110 units of time.

    Where does 2^128 come from? I would have expected 2^255, since on average you need to try half of the 2^256 possible keys.

    btw apple, black sucks, it absorbes heat in the sun shine.

    How often do you leave your phone out in direct sunlight? And black radiates heat better, so in the shade it will cool down faster.

    But in this case, the "naughty words" are embedded into a video. So it's not just scanning the text, it would have to do OCR on each frame of the video too.

    Double-pane glass with a vacuum between the panes removes this attack vector.

    Unfortunately, glass has this annoying property called transparency that allows laser beams to go straight through and be reflected from the inner layer...
