And what happens when everybody with the name of Bob is deemed statistically dangerous to society?
These sorts of thigns aren't viable because it's difficult to draw a line as to when it's safe to remove rights of an individual. Therefore we default to giving everybody equal rights.
I mean statistically speaking Black Men should be put under far more close surveilance than white women. They're going to statistically cause more crime. But once you decide something like that you've also said that we shouldn't allow men to drive cars because they're more likely to crash. This goes far beyond 'slippery slope' this is a non slope. You can't find a slope the moment you begin assigning different rules to different groups of individuals based on innate and highly suspect reasoning.
Part of the reason our mental health care is sooooo terrible in this country is because of the abuse it received not very long ago. Unhappy with your wife and want her 'gone'. Inform the court that she's mentally unstable and in need of psychiatric care. She'll deny it but that's just part of the paranoia lock her up! The burden of proof for psychiatric lock up in extraordinary because it involves removing the rights of an individual that has commited no crimes or threatened society.
In schools should we offer a genetic test for intelligence and success and give resources to students based on the probability they're going to succeed?
Except that Windows 2008 came out over a year after Vista was launched. And it uses an updated kernel version.
A more accurate description would be that Windows 7 is actually a service pack for Windows 2008 which is actually Windows 7.
This is no different than Windows 2003 which came out a little while after XP and blew its socks off for performance. Windows 2003 was still in my mind the best windows for performance. Even in 3D Performance I saw 100% increases in framerates. I was shocked and awed.
It would seem that Microsoft is sneaking in Windows 2008 R2 + User friendly UI as windows 7. Which I'm fine with because it wouldn't make any sense to reinvent the wheel if they've invested a lot of time and money into the kernel.
Also a large amount of work being put into Windows 7 is in the user interface department. Easier networking, More features for the home user etc etc.. none of these are useful for Windows 2008. So Without ALL of the UI work being done to make it a better operating system for the user (beyond performance enhancements that 2008 ALREADY HAS) I can see why R2 is a minor release.
Extract it onto a thumb drive. And install the ethernet drivers from the WindowsXP folder. They actually work. As soon as you're online connect to Windows Update and Windows Update will find all the missing drivers for sound, "Athlon" etc.
(My experience with an NForce2 Motherboard k7Nsomething from MSI.) After that everything ran perfectly.
All of our workstations and servers have 8GB of RAM. We do 3D rendering. So when you have 80million polygons and there are 100million photons bouncing around and millions and millions of raytrace calls plus millions of particles all interacting... you need a lot of ram.
Also when a single frame is 120MB uncompressed and you want to play back a short sequence to review in full quality prepare to see your RAM cache get filled very very quickly.

I don't see how that's illegal or unethical. You release a product onto a site with the same name as your product. Which performs a different service. OBVIOUSLY the pirate was looking for the version of your product which deleted all his data since the one sold in stores doesn't offer the same feature set.
This was one of my huge pet peeves with Fallout 3.
I would be ungodly good. I would have saved their town numerous times. I would be known worldwide as the salvation of mankind. But if my eyes so much as glanced near their door they would start being pissy at me. "You better not be thinking about stealing that!"
"Or What! What are you going to do puny human being? Punch me in my Power Armor? You should be practically worshipping me and offering me your daughters to do with as I please--of course you know I'm such a good person I wouldn't accept but know that I would appreciate the offer."
When recognized I should be like death itself to my enemies and Jesus Christ descended from the clouds to my friends. If I steal your apple... I must have a good reason-- even if I don't what are you going to do about it, I could kill everybody in the room. Awed admiration should be the name of the game by level 20 with perfect karma.
And there is no reason for every raider to attack me. It's just annoying. I don't need the XP. I'm a busy guy.
I also wish they had implemented an economy. When I bring in 100 Chinese Assault Rifles. The price of Chinese Assault rifle should drop amongst the civilized peoples to whom I sell my wares. Bonus points if the lower cost of an assault rifle resulted in every tom dick and hary now being able to afford an assault rifle. And with less bandits it would see the cost of goods should drop too. Less risk. More runs.
Ahhh. Ok. Yeah. I got right up to the point where I'm supposed to run in and activate project purity and am doing all the side quests I ignored previously.
If you're clever you can go one one one with super mutants right at the beginning of the game.
I would always have a random encounter at the baseball field. The first time all it happened all I had was a bat (even though all my stats were stacked into agility and shooting). I killed two super mutants with my baseball bat and I was only level 3.
Wait... if Orgone Generators convert bad energy into good energy... then wouldn't the Wifi network be increasing the amount of Good energy with sufficient Orgone installation?
The Wifi installation is actually increasing the input energy amount and should be praised for bring peace and stability.
I took out thousands of dollars in student loans. If I had worked through college to pay for college as I went it would have taken me 10 years to graduate from college. Instead I stole future wealth and success from a time in which I was impoverished. The result was I finished college in 2.25 years in an intensive program and payed off ALL of my student loans in under 6 months with a high paying job.
This is the notion of an economic stimulus package. Yes you lose money. But we can fairly assume the economy can afford increased taxes in the future to compensate once the median income rises again.
And my zune has been working for 2 days since you posted your gloat. What's your point?
This whole thing is retarded. I have an 'affected' Zune 30. "Oh no! I can't use my zune for 12 hours when I'm out celebrating once every 10 years! What ever will I do!"
Please. This is like the battery running out... only simultaneously around the world. What's the point of creating, testing and releasing a patch (Probably at least 12 hours) when the bug will have already been cleared by the time it's been released to consumers?
Like most people I slept in for the last 12 hours. Was out partying for the middle 6 and only was sitting by the computer for the first 6. It was a silly bug that only affected a small handful of people in no significant way. I have to take my car in for oil every few months and leave it in the shop for 24 hours! OH NO HORRIBLE CAR BUG THAT REQUIRES IT TO BE DOWN EVERY FEW MONTHS! I have to spend an hour every week cleaning my apartment which is more than 2 days of cleaning every year! Oh no! Horrible apartment bug!
So your zune didn't work for a couple of hours... who cares.
I like CFLs in my bathroom. They take about 6 seconds to 'warm up' and give my eyes time to adjust in the middle of the night. I consider it a feature!
#1 is idiotic. When I grew up I always mowed the lawn with a riding lawn mower. It took about 2 gallons per mow for a several acre property. I go through more gas than that every couple of days in my car and I don't drive that much. The amount of Gas that goes into a container vs a vehicle is probably 1/100th the fuel sales. Hardly worth investing in expensive taxation infrastructure for the mass majority of the customers.
#2 is also stupid because those customers aren't spending money on gas taxes as it is. Diesel for farm equipment and logging on private property is tax-exempt. It's often colored differently and if a cop catches you driving it on public road systems you get a ticket.

I bought 40 HD-DVDs all for $10 or less! New releases, classics, everything for super cheap. One of the best bargains ever. And Amazon gave me a $50 gift certificate for my 'pain and anguish'. Which I promptly spent on 5 more HD-DVDs.

Welcome to NForce2! I had the same problem.
Strangely enough the Vista beta worked perfectly on my exact same computer. So Windows 7 is a little more anal retentive than Vista.
Here's what you do. You download this: http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-nForce-6.14-download-903.html

And because my home machine is still an Athlon XP.
I know hard to believe. Everywhere else I use 64bit Vista or XP but since I don't game or work on my home PC it's effectively a nettop.
Yep disney is relevant to this discussion because I'm SURE that these applications being cracked are at LEAST 16 years old.

My 360 version crashes every couple of hours due to bad DVD reads. It'll try to load a conversation file and hang.
Yeah I'm sure a petition will make them reconsider the $xx million dollar contract that they signed Microsoft.
This is a case where Bethesda is effectively working for microsoft on contract. I doubt the contract allows them to sell the work to other clients.
Ahhh. Ok. Yeah. I got right up to the point where I'm supposed to run in and activate project purity and am doing all the side quests I ignored previously.

/ * SPOILER WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP */ Did you not make friends with Fawkes? He was more than willing to venture into a lethally irradiated area for me.
I can't possibly see how they can be accused of releasing a game with more than 100 hours of gameplay that was "holding back" anything. :D
I am still finishing quests and still having fun months later--about 60hours into the game.
I got my money's worth. I really really doubt they would risk bad reviews and poor sales in exchange for a few extra bucks later.
But hardcore gamers also have a 360 or PS3. Both of which provide dramatically better graphics.

Exactly. We "steal" from the future all the time.

I think it's pretty simple.
Developers like DirectX.
Developers who develop DirectX Products don't always feel the desire to maintain a DirectX and OGL render pipeline.
Apple 3D Card selection have been historically pretty worthless. Linux is infamous for its 3D Card support.
So not only do developers need an openGL renderer but they also have to develop for a less refined driver base.
And my zune has been working for 2 days since you posted your gloat. What's your point?
