I've heard about new algorithms that are going into effect at the Aricibo telescope that use wavelets to get much better results. Apparently a lot of old data is going to be re analyzed.
The clothing industry actually established something like this in the 1930's. My father worked in the garment district in Manhattan and he said it made a big difference.
The definition of megapixel is slippery. Sometimes these companies allow for interpolation for some reason (they are liars!). Some camera, such as the Foveon, only have 3.1 megapixels but behave like a much higher megapixel camera.
This one I can't tell about what is the reality.
Interesting. I recall that one of the first "Leaked" games was a version of Ms. Pacman for the commodore 64. I think I was in HS, so that would be about 1984.
I was a really big Next user, and for me OS X seems to be the natural extension of it. But it was amazing to be using Next machines in the early 90's. They were remarkably ahead of their time.
Windows does have it - look at www.cygwin.org.
Cygwin is Unix tools for windows.
In an old paper by Ritchie, it is pointed out that Unix comes from the Old Dutch, Unochs, which means "tree-based".
In the 90's there was a similiar type of suit between IBM and someone I think, but I don't recall the outcome or the exact context.
The answer is Forest Gump. He is an example of that, if you believe such a person can exist.
I like this book a lot but it does have a number of typos. Overall though, worth the money.

I heard that an issue was the amount of goriness. Remember the soldiers hanging from meathooks ? Apparently the director wants to show that!
Movie dirt is a special kind of "noise" in images, from a statistical point of view. Thus special filters can be applied.

Yeah, but you have to realize that they don't have smart CS security expert professors doing their windows administration for them.
Interesting. A few years ago there was a smaller such incident at the Berkeley Traffic Safety Center.

She should try reading Neuromaner, by Gibson, which was amazingly published in 1984.
but wasn't this an idea of IBM's in the early 2000's ?
I guess we should take dreidels and dice away from all kids. So much for monopoly....
I liked this book a lot, but there are an awful lot of annoying typos. Also my binding broke after a week.
