  1. Re:Amarok in Linux on Better Jukebox Software for Bigger Libraries? · · Score: 1

Case in point; A friend of mine who is a "database pro" entered a new contract and began looking at some of the logic and calls behind the data aggregation that was currently taking place. One particular report, that he was supposed to be working on a UI for, took about 6 hour to run to completion. After 3 or 4 days of careful consideration he was able to reduce the time it took to run the report to about 6 seconds.
Same hardware, same data, just a better method of access.
I think that Apple may actually be working on using SQL Lite to manage iTune libraries in the future.

I just think that they at least need to tie some type of user information into the system. What if I am submitting a series of papers that follow my development of thought or experimentation on a certain topic, chances are that large portions will be similar. If the papers that I submitted were tied into my student number then I wouldn't get dinged. Only being able to use the system one time per paper shouldn't be a limitation that the instructor has to work around, especially when the papers are automatically scanned when submitted.
it basically encourages the instructors to not allow the submission of rough drafts.

It really needs work, I understand what they are doing, but the implementation steps on a lot of toes.

I don't really want an X-box, and with all I've spent on the Wii, games, accessories, and Virtual console titles I could've gotten a PS3, but I still think that what Nintendo is offering is the best out there for the time being.
I'd really love if a strong homebrew community broke out, especially if the Wii devkits are released publicly, but as of now I don't regret my purchase at all and feel that nintendo is working every day to add value to he system.

because being in jail is unnatural. there is a strong notion developing that jail does absolutely nothing to benefit society. Actually, most people in the US are in jail for drug related crimes, which are arguably victimless, so getting those people off the streets doesn't make the streets any safer.
I understand that blackmail is a different story, but putting someone in jail doesn't help the victims of the blackmail, nor does it do anything for society, other than creating another welfare case.
In New York they even found that as jail populations fell crime rates fell, contrary to popular belief.

Think of how much people pay to paint their walls a different color, or how much people pay for a hair cut, or a manicure, or to go a step further cosmetic surgery. Hell I even spend more than $100 on dinner at least a few times a week, so I wouldn't think of people with a black macbook as having more money than sense.
