    That sounds a lot like me. I have an x64 Vista install on my gaming/desktop PC and once I managed to tune everything and strip out the bullshit, it runs like a champ. I also have a Macbook and a Linux server, all of which have their strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't want to get rid of any of them. Operating system competition is a very good thing.

    Yeah. Maybe I'm just too used to the programming shop I've worked at for the last 8 years (god I'm old) but I just find it bizarre trying to imagine management trying to force a particular editor (or any other development tool) down the coder's throat. I find it bizarre trying to imagine management would even think to care which editor the code monkeys use.

    If you want a very fancy 3D chat room check out Second Life. It is something like a very primitive version of the Metaverse. It's actually a pretty fun alternative to WoW when you get sick of chasing that epic armor set and just want to chat and build things.

    There is a product called Journyx Timesheet which is a fairly sophisticated time tracking and project management system.

    It is free of cost for 10 users or less. It's a web application and the server runs under Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and others, or you can pay Journyx to host the application for you.

    I admit that I might be biased, I am a senior developer for Journyx.
