And I'm sick of people bitching about having to support Macs in any sort of environment. Instead of whining about "no one training me" and "administration won't hire a Mac person" why don't you go to one of these 'fanboy's' you have and say, "Listen, you can have these, and future support, but you need to buy us some as well and give us a couple months to come up to speed."

Jesus, it's a very easy OS to support, one of the easiest if you already have Linux knowledge. Man up and learn it like you no doubt learned Linux: hands-on experience.

If I wanted to be slashdotted, I should have bitched and moaned about Ubuntu when I was having kernel panics due to my attempt at compiling hfs+ drivers... oh wait, I found the problem instead of complaining. Macs come with a great log parsing tool called 'Console' for a reason... look at it and call AppleCare.

You do know that the iPod functions as an external hard drive as well as an MP3 player, right? Just put your MP3's on the harddrive in a folder, bring them to your friend's house, copy them to his machine and he can add them to whatever playlist he wants. Sure, this might mean that you "technically" have two copies on your iPod at one time, but who really cares? Apple didn't stifle this sort of creative give-and-take, they just made it so that Digital Rights Managed songs would not be easily moved and they made that ubiquitous for all MP3s added to the PLAYLIST. I transfer music back and forth using the harddrive method all the time... same effect.

  11. Not sure what the hype is here... on Anti-malware Vendors Stare Down Microsoft Threat · · Score: 1

Microsoft's Anti-Spyware package (Windows Defender) is really a nice base for anti-spyware movements, but it will never be enough. Once you start relying on a single point for all of your defense stuff is bound to start targetting that. I mean within a week of the Windows Anti-Spyware Beta being released spyware creators were already targetting it for deletion upon "infection." I do agree that corporations like Symantec and McAfee that offer bloated and underwhelming spyware/malware removal tools are in for a big threat. However, companies like Lavasoft and programs like Spybot will continue to thrive because they offer a diversity of scanning software.

Just a point of fact - feudalism has nothing to do with luck. Those societies required quite a bit of work and human ingenuity to develop a society that has been incorrectly labeled since it's inception as dictatorial.
