It's really exciting because it represents several "lanes" instead of just several bits. Parallel is like a wide SUV going down the highway. PCIE is like a lot of smaller cars that can independently go down separate lanes.
I know, used to be an extreme libertarian myself. I think this is a good idea. A bunch of states with regulations would be a huge headache. And no regulation will be fine post-singularity. For now, I really need a good emergency service.
It's like this is the default charity so you can offend nobody. How about fighting for insurance for everyone instead of giving perks to kids who happen to be sick? Who deserves a wish more, a kid in Sudan or a kid in a US hospital?
Probably shouldn't call it piracy either. But this stuff doesn't bother me much anymore. Look how we keep saying "humans versus animals". Some people just don't want to use language correctly.
