    Cheapest ipad is $499.

The only place where your argument holds true is with the regular ipod, which is $229 for the cheapest model.

Lets see Fri Jan 7, 2011 the Apple had the first generation iPad 3G refurbished and sold with a new warranty for $429. There were similar savings all the way to the most expensive 3G iPad. These will not last long.

Apple is probably now clearing the decks for the next generation iPad.

After carefully examining all the tablets at 2011 CES, I would have to go with Apple stock hands down as being a runaway investment based on their share of the tablet market in 2011.

What a pile of tech crap compared to the iPad!

I am seeing major businesses lining up to buy tens of thousand of the 2 generation iPads each in the next few months. It is gone way beyond the occasional Apple customer buying one or maybe two iPads. US Enterprise is replacing laptops with iPads as a better fit for their business objectives.

Android is still seriously flawed and can not currently be safely used like an iPad so it is still Apple's exclusive market for 2011. I do not think anyone in Enterprise will ever be interested in seeing advertising from Google on their business tools.

Apple needs to split their stock to allow those with less to invest an opportunity to also share in Apple's rocket like surge in value.

Outselling iOS on phones? Not in the most recent quarters and if you compare OS to OS. Not by a long shot. When you combine iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad sales against Android there is no comparison.

I have mental problem with people trying to compare the market for Android to Apple. It is like comparing the market for Apples to Bananas.

These are trying to compare the market for just one phone company against almost virtually every other phone company combined. Many of these manufacturers and cellular carriers are the ones that made such a mess out of the Windows Mobile phone market with the piles of crap mixed with a few standouts that were very expensive. Apple changed that with the release of the world changing iPhone and Google is determined to change it back again.

Android is like buying bananas, they may or may not be ready for use and within a short period they need to be thrown away as they are past perfection and don't last.

Verizon used to bow to such by allowing Verizon customers to get a discount after about 12 months on a new phone on a two year contract. Verizon indicates this week that will end in less than two weeks with the coming release of the more stable and reliable Verizon iPhone on the Verizon network. New customers buying an Android will have to keep them 22 months before any discount on a new Verizon phone will be available. The days of hardware churn on Verizon are coming to an end in 2011.

    I agree this is FUD.

But when you think about it all of a sudden the purchase of a Mac becomes far more compelling compared to another Windows PC.

I have both and I am very interested in this new Mac development. I already love the ease of buying decent software for the iPad/iPhone from the Apple app store.

One thing I regret was the purchase of Civilization 5 for the PC in Sept for $50 from Amazon.com. What a time wasting POS.

I own virtually every version of Civilization back to Civ2 on windows.

I had purchased the iPhone version of Civ Revolution before I got an iPad.
When the iPad version Civ Rev came out at $14 I decided to pass but I like that game a lot and often play it on Deity to pass a couple of hours.

On New Years eve I decided I would pop for the iPad version since I play Civ Rev so much. I generally hate software designed only for the iPhone on the iPad.
Wow! That iPad specific version of Civ Rev is much better over all and easily worth the $14 to me. If I had to drag out to a store or go through the pain of buying from Amazon.com I probably would not have ever purchased the improved version of Civ Rev for the iPad.

I can buy an awful lot of software for an Apple product for every $50 I blow on crap for windows. I have over 850 iPad apps on the iPad right now. Many of them are jewels. Some that were rough a few months ago have been improved dramatically in the last quarter in updates.

I can shut up any car load of kids by handing them that iPad and telling them to knock themselves out.

Not to mention my phone gets OTA updates and iphone still needs itunes and the USB cable to do this. A large part of the "it just works" myth is Apple marketing. Spend some time at the genius bar or get a job supporting Macs to find that "it just works" is more than a bit exaggerated and has more to do with the lack of malware writers targeting Apple.

Unfortunately you are among those Android fanboys that do not have a clue.
All the iOS devices apps can be updated over Wi-Fi and 3G. If the app is too big, I have several over 1GB, then they need to update over Wi-Fi or USB.

I have updated over fifty apps at once using the internal Apple app store service that pushes the app updates out. Later when synced to iTunes if you haven't updated the apps on your PC the device sends the updated software out to the PC/

But don't let the little details curb your enthusiasm for Android. Almost every good feature was stolen from Apple during the iPhone development. None of it is Google's original thinking.
