part of the news on this was that he was building becuase he was confident that govt would renew the subsidy for wind power. So wind power isn't profitable without the subsidies either.
Wow -- can you read English? Let me translate for you: I did not say there would not be proof. In other words there will be proof -- he goes on to say that it might not be proof that you could experience with your five senses, which starts getting a little out there, but man at least read what you are ranting about before making a fool of yourself.
I agree with most of your post but I'm curious on the last one -- where should our healthcare system be. I thought we were doing well there with the drugs we are developed and medical techniques that are amazing.
Ethanol isn't a fossil fuel, but it may as well be one, since burning it releases carbon into the atmosphere.
Ethanol only releases as much carbon into the atmosphere as it removed from the atmosphere during its growth phase making it a net zero carbon emitter.
Electric cars, therefore, should be what we focus our efforts towards.
Electric cars are only as nonpoluting as the source of the electricity. If you are charging your car from electricity generated by burning coal you aren't saving much. But if you are running your car on pure ethanol or other biofuel, which mostly even the alternative fuel cars aren't doing now, you are just as carbon non poluting as an electric car.
I guess to decide between electric cars and alternative fuel vehicles, we really need to start by comparing the efficiency of these processes. Solar to electricity (photovoltaics I'd imagine) to mechanical (electric motors). Comapre that to solar to ethanol (using these bacteria etc) to mechanical (buring the ethanol) Or compare that to a hybrid biofuel / electric vehicle. Then factor in the requirements needed to manufacture and dispose of each type of vehicle. And, don't forget to factor in any non carbon pollution generated in the whole process. and dont forget...
One thing I don't see mentioned here is the issue of some kind of proof you are who you say you are before you vote. In my opinion thats as much an issue as counting correctly, but it seems to be ignored. Why?
I think you are right about it being short term. I have a feeling that in a year or so we will see games coming out for the sony that won't fit on 360 -- course in Sony fashion they will probably be $100 and carry DRM that prevents them from being resold.:(
They are not prevented from carrying them as carryon, only as checked baggage. They are doing it because the onboard firefighting systems in the cargo compartments cannot put out a lithium fire.
They are talking about pulling offenders press passes -- so these are rules for people who are getting in under their rules to begin with. Not the guy in the stand blogging about the great game.
I wouldn't mind DRM so much if it allowed me to do the things that I need to do to use what I buy. I've been trying to rebuild my library using fictionwise, but a couple of weeks ago I realized that all the books that I have there in any of their "secure" formats couldn't be used if I bought a Kindle./sigh
One place I could see e-book readers being very useful are with disposable documents like newspapers and magazines, essentially type of document that you won't keep for a long time. I think that with these types of documents DRM won't be as much of an issue as it is with books since its value degrades much more quickly.
Exactly! The bigest reason I would buy the Kindle would be for subscriptions to newspapers and magazines, without the hassle or environmental concerns of disposal. Of course, maybe I'll wait till they have a color e-ink reader. (of course by the time they get back in stock that might be there)
If you want unlimited listening go Rhapsody -- any song as often as you want for $12 / month or $15/month if you want to download to a mp3 player.

But they stop drilling for oil because of the polar bears? Maybe his point was that it would be too easy to stop based on bird "protection."

You can do this if you wish to Amazon Kindle Kindle Digital Text Platform
This isn't quite true -- if you buy a kindle book from amazon it exists on thier servers that you can redownload at any time.
Ya but we feel confident that they can do a good job with health care!!
I don't imagine these things have a lot of metal in them -- it would make them too heavy wouldn't it?

Why is this flamebait??? Moderators just because you disagree with what they are saying doesn't make it flamebait or trolling
No its because however good some of his policies sound you can't go over the fact that the man is a nut job!!
Nah if you'd had a camera above my desk - you'd have fired me for surfing /. ages ago.
LOL
Go reread the posts -- rucs_hack was not calling BS on the scientific community!
Lol not worked up -- just a lot has changed since that article came out. As other posters pointed out.
You do realize that article is over 1 year old???

Can I mod that as +1 paranoid. :)
Sorry not trying to pick nits but is that 200,000 with a missing zero or 20,000 with a misplaced comma?
