Several Months ago I made the switch to primus-talkbroad band voip. (34$Can tax in per month) Unlimited local and north american calling. Voice mail, email relay of voice mail, 5 way calling, local numbers you can dial to access free long distance services, private web porthole with phone book, log and settings ( I wish they had a cell navigable version ) and more.
I have a cell for if or when my internet dies. I have to have one any way it pays for itself in gained work.
Anyway quality is for all intensive purposes as good as a land line and not nearly as bad as a cell phone.
Computers are proving to be the ultimate in communication tools.
It would seem that I'm mixing up primus and telus. It doesn't mean that cause I made one mistake that I no longer have rights or am cowed into submission. Contact your MP
It would seem to me that primus has definitely crossed the line.
I would hope to hear a strong response from the government and the other members of parliament.
As we have become inundated with spam and virus traffic people have let the internet providers filter all of their emails and web content already.
Now I get the odd email that is sanitized with.pif virus, funny in it that it doesn't even run on a mac.
Internet providers have been able to sneak their filters into service supposedly based on this threat.
So it's like grade school all over again. I can just hear the teacher, " Nobody can throw snowballs all winter again because of what "Johnny" did".
Because of a bunch of sick bastards who write spam and virus's we must now submit ourselves to a level of censorship we don't even allow our own governments, and yes I am Canadian.
My closing idea is that if these businesses are not classed as common carriers, this would imply a failure of government to protect it's citizens. I see hand washing all the way to the top.
By the way write your MP.
"What MSFT is required to do is license their network protocols and provide sufficient documentation to licensees so they can create their own implementations. "
Exactly.
They still don't have to offer access to there libraries when they don't want to. Third party aps might be required to include redundant libraries separately.
I have to add this! I would suffer the assaults of invading spammers rather than have my email screened for threats to my computer. I would prosecute the spammers and not censure the recipients.
Lets wait and see where the dark forces move in.I would personally dam all virus writers to total hell. Then again what could be worse than the way things are already. Maybe the whole computer idea is already ruined. I mean your isp is ALREADY actively analyzing all of your internet traffic! and already actively filtering ALL of your emails! Virus on the mac? the world has other problems.
Imagine if long horn was entirely scaleable across multiple processors and was also application independent?
I mean if your gonna steal an idea why not steal the whole dream!
They most likely have allowed the likes of unix/sun/bsd to develop this market before beginning the process of subjecting it. They may be holding there tech in reserve for years to do this.
Now the evil empire strikes back.
Apple I implore you to fully grid implement OS X now!
" Among the electronic flaws on her car, the software-based service system that sends out maintenance reminders went haywire, telling her at 8,000 miles that the car needed its 10,000-mile service. At 17,000 miles, it requested the 20,000-mile service. There have been no more reminders, though the mileage is now 39,000. "
Another example of ignorant owners/dealers. The maintenance reminder is "automatic" in mercedes cars and is dependent upon ones driving conditions and driving styles.
I'm not sure about the maximum interval but I am doubtful of this guys story.
At least that's what I was told when I test drove one.
It costs me 3 CAN a minute to call my family in the netherlands with skype unfortunately this excellent service doesn't yet provide local service at reasonable rates.
With http://www.vonage.ca/index.php it's 8 per minute and there plan costs 39.99 $CAN per month. You can call unlimited within North America.
If you live in the USA for 19.95$ US ( about 30$CAN )

You get unlimited minutes each month to speak with anyone in the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe.
So as a Canadian I get two thirds of the service for an extra 1/3 of the cost.
I remember trying to download netscape with an early mac version of IE which took direct aim at netscape's website. They actually ghosted the second page so you couldn't complete your personal info and thus could not download netscape with IE. This was the first time I saw what others have seen, Microsoft for what it is. I am sure that they are guilty.
Novell is the defendant in this case. SCO has brought allegations against Novell in another attempt to steal money (basically). SCO has accused Novell of releasing statements to discredit SCO. Early on in the SCO drama Novell announced that it actually owned the rights to Unix. When Novell realized that it may not actually own those rights, SCO sued Novell for publishing those statements with malicious intent. (Whatever the hell that means). Anyway, these records could show that Novell had reason to believe that it still owned the copyrights to Unix. If they can still show they had reason to believe they owned Unix, the case might get thrown out because it will be really hard for SCO to then prove that Novell issued these claims with the intent to discredit SCO.
Yea but what about those mac super computer clusters.:-)
Isn't KDX client-server a viable option.

Process Monitor -- The "Process Monitor" window shows you a list of the processes (running programs) which are running on the server computer. You can also remotely exit/terminate/restart processes.
Launch Programs -- You can remotely launch programs or scripts on the server computer.
View/Control Display -- You can remotely view the display/screen/monitor of the server computer, and you can also control it with the keyboard and mouse. This even works between different operating systems, for example a Mac can view the screen of a Windows computer, or vice-versa. [Screenshot]
Remote File Management -- Folders can be created on the server. Alias/shortcuts can also be created. Multiple files on the server can be moved from one location to another in the one action. Multiple files can be deleted in one action. Files can be renamed. You can get information about particular files. All of this is done remotely using KDX Client.
Remote Trash Emptying -- You can remotely instruct the server computer to empty its Trash / Recycle Bin. This is very useful to free up space.
Remote Shutdown -- Remotely shutdown the server, and optionally restart or shutdown the whole computer. You can also optionally include a message to be sent to everyone before the server is shutdown.
General Info -- See the operating system and version of the remote computer, when the server was started, its "uptime", and its clock.
The new intel towers must be seen tobeat the current G5 Quads 67 Gigaflop speed by a mile or they will look silly for switching over the towers.
The great thing about standards is, there are so many of them!

Yes My bad I got primus on the brain but I meant telus, honestly...
oops I got Telus on the brain, cause I'm getting their voip.

So now we can pig out on power all night long!

When people find they have any thing to do with it, it will immediately die.
Just control click for bleep! sakes

Was originally going to say black jack but then I thought what about all those other card games that I suck at.
Imagine a mac mini grid!
What's good for Wal-Mart is good for China.

Ok I'm being facetious, but aren't macs on top of the gui universe.
If it wasn't for macs what would the rest of the world have to copy?
