I by no means condone discussion of this topic for titillation but this whole "Warriors for Innocence" thing to me reeks of "Warriors for Ignorance", that special breed of people who pretend that if you don't write about it, talk about it, educate about it then it will just go away.
There are so many children out there suffering horrendous abuse because the person abusing them has convinced them that it's wrong to tell, that it's "just our little secret". These kids need to know that it is wrong and they have a right to tell someone and have it stopped.
Don't let them suffer in silence....
Sounds like Adelaide University about 2 years ago. The University is located on the banks of a river so it has quite a few levels as it goes up the hill. Unfortunately one of the main server rooms was located in a basement and council workers helpfully busted a water main during roadworks. The first anyone heard of it was when all network services came to a screaming halt and remained down for about a week. I believe things have been shifted over to a multi-storey building now.
We've just reached the age-old dosage issue. Water fluoridation is at a rate of between 0.7 ppm and 1.2 ppm, the average fluoride toothpaste is a rate of 1000 ppm. An average fluoride gel can get up to 12,3000!! ppm but Colgate in Australia has removed this from the market except for professional clinical use and so your average patient is unlikely to be exposing themselves to such a high dose on a regular basis. Signs such as fluorosis (discolouration and pitting of the teeth) are likely to appear quite early in relation to systemic harm. This diseases has been known to be common in areas with water sources naturally high in fluoride but is easily reversible.
"when in doubt, I tend to believe the group that doesn't have a monetary interest in the outcome, and fluorinating municipal water supplies subsidizes the chemical industry--guys who have influence and deep pockets."
So this is why dentists, perhaps the group with the largest interest in maintaining rates of tooth decay, recommend fluoride products?
"Second, flouride treatment is only effective when it's in contact with the teeth, actually absorbing it into your blood stream is unneccessary,"
Systemic fluoride is effective because the fluoride ions are excreted in saliva which your teeth are constantly surrounded by. This is why patients with "dry mouth syndrome" are prescribed fluoride gels/rinses, because the saliva isn't there to buffer the acid attack.
Major urban myth stuff, much like the controversy over Triclosan which hit Aus recently. I work with a rabid veggo/health/alternate therapy nut and even she uses fluoride toothpaste. Unless you use mass amounts there is no danger to fluoride toothpastes and water supplementation and their efficacy has been proved. Queensland is a state with no water fluoridation and their decay rates are in general higher than other states in Australia.
However, if you want an alternate to fluoride in order to remineralize your teeth (because that's what fluoride is doing, not killing bacteria) you should try Toothmousse or Recaldent, both containing CPP-ACP which is a milk casein protein. It remineralizes teeth which is a major barrier to acid attack and has no overdose issues.
And just for interest's sake, most decay is caused by incomplete removal of existing decay at the time of fillings. Even a little left will continue the decay process leading to cavities forming under fillings.
Actually, the world is held up by 4 elephants who are standing on the back of the giant turtle. It is theorised that this turtle is standing on the back of a turtle who is larger again. For more info consult the astrochelonians.
I was a huge Snood addict, *huge* (we're talking played since 1996 on both Mac and PC, at one point averaging 100 games a day in a 4 hr session), but my addiction was quickly replaced by another game which feeds my puzzle solving needs but offers me more variety and more challenges. E.V.E Paradox is a suite of games with a game called Orbit that has replaced Snood as my new addiction. Since loading E.V.E. I haven't played Snood once in over 4 months!
As pointed out in Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything", the Earth has gone through a number of heating/cooling periods (cycles) and the current cycle is way overdue. This got me thinking about how much of the current global warming phenomenon is actually due to the use of fossil fuels and how much is the inevitable. There's no denying that our overuse of fossil fuels and our energy inefficient lifestyle has some blame but it would put things into perspective to know just how much. Here is a fairly reasonable article but if anyone else has any others please share.
"Any time players adjust any setting on the Nintendo DS, the system will prompt users to shut down the system. I figure this is Nintendo playing it safe so that people don't lose their data."
So this is what Windows was up to all that time! Change the time, machine shuts down. Change screensaver, machine shuts down. Open application, machine shuts down. I guess that they were just too busy to give you the warning before it does it.

Isn't there already Star Wars Cluedo? It was Han, in the Cantina, with the blaster...
It could be worse, it could come preloaded with Passengers Original Soundtracks 1.
