New Star Wars DVD for Trivia Buffs
Klytus writes "Following the release of the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD comes news of a new DVD to hit store shelves early next year. GamingReport.com has details on a Star Wars: Trivial Pursuit DVD game for release in 2005. Details on if this DVD is to have new or enhanced scenes is unclear. Also up on deck is a Star Wars Risk variant based on what sounds like the new film."
How long until Lucas puts out the "Star Wars: Trivial Pursuit Special Edition DVD"?

Hope this time this StarWars DVD doesn't kill my XBOX dashboard as latest StarWars extras DVD tried to do.

I love the original Star Wars trilogy as much as the next person but /.'s following of it is really over the top...
There's mischief and malarkies but no queers or yids or darkies within this bastard's carnival, this vicious cabaret.
anyone else find it boringly easy? It's like they wrote the game for people who'd seen the movies 2-3x max.
big surprize ANOTHER starwars dvd about nothing. just says starwars on it. Lucas...
why cant i help but remeber the light saber fight over the lava we heard about?
Star Wars Stratego... If you guys (and gals) haven't seen "Triumph the Insult Dog's" "bit" at the Star Wars premier.. do yourself a favor and check it out. "Spoilers? Here's a spoiler... you will die alone." http://www.milkandcookies.com/article/924/

The lack of discussion regarding this story tells volumes.

For that 45 year old son living in your basement.
If someone says he and his monkey have nothing to hide, they almost certainly do.
I find it hard to navigate in a menu with my current remote control (bad recognition) and also the long loading times between each action.
I wonder if one could make a game so you feel like playing or is it just as with those other extras on DVDs who are nice but never ever looked on because of these drawbacks?
There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want. --Calvin
How can a Star Wars Trivia game even be possible, when the movie changes every few years with each new special edition and home release? The dialog keeps changing, entire scenes are added and deleted, even the actors that voice the characters (e.g. Boba Fett) change!
Last week I bought Inside the world of Star Wars. Of course I haven't received it yet (living in the Netherlands, shipping takes a while) but it looks like a nice thing to have.

I can already see this question in the game... "How many editions of the original Star Wars were released to the public? Including VHS, DVD, LD and CED".
Oh boy... Seems that Lucas need money... How about a Star Wars Telethon instead ?
:D
'Do you want another SW crap ? Help us, donate to stop the carnage. Give money to Georges'
Keep your stupid toys and marketing tie-ins. The market is oversaturated, and I wouldn't be caught dead buying any of your products - to the point of this making me want to skip out on Episode III.
Come on, we all know what's going to happen - Fight, Fight, Argument, Argument, Fight, Anakin gets thrown in Lava, Roll credits.
I'd rather stay home and watch the new BG series.
Much more effective than a carbonite chastity belt.
Si tacuisses philosophus mansisses. If you had kept quiet, you would have remained a philosopher.
in the special boxed set version of the game, han and greedo move at the same time.
.. playing it while in line for the first showing of episode 1 (was that so long ago??)
one of the questions was 'which side of the speeder was threepio sitting on when they drove into Mos Eisly?' (or summat suchlike)
it was scary that i could close my eyes and see the whole scene.
(and i saw the ORIGINAL scene not the SE scene)

learn from yesterday, plan for tomorrow, party tonight
or one out of three ain't bad
Or.. fight, Anakin whine, Anakin moan, get bored, watch short fight climax, post to favorite forum of how it sucks and you will not see the next movie.
While visiting family not long ago I found in the storage room a bunch of old VCR board games where at times you'd be instructed to watch the next five minutes of a VHS tape to determine your fate (i.e. winner of a WWF wrestling match, for instance). I wonder if this DVD will be as successful/unsuccessful as the Star Wars VHS Game.
I just have to say that's the funniest "from the dept." line I have ever seen here. (Not that that's saying much.)

I mod down every jackass who puts his moderation policy in his sig. Oh, wait a sec....
This time Steve McQueen's motorcycle is actually Evel Knievel's rocket-bike! He SOARS over the fence in the end only to be sued by Switzerland for illegal entry into their country. McQueen then spends the rest of the movie tied up in legal litigation and commodity brokerage residual discussions with the U.N. .
So is that his login name on the original Galactic Smuggler BBS or the Special Edition?

And Archie Ives shoots first.

I've ordered Return of the King - the Extended Edition, released a few months after The Return of the King - the Theatrical Edition.
X-men and Spiderman both had Special Editions relased after millions of fans went out and bought the first version. And I can't even count the number of different versions of Akira I've seen on DVD.
Lucas has only released 1 version of each Star Wars movie has has been getting massive crap - first for NOT releasing the OT (and NOT taking people's money) and then for NOT released the 'Original versions' (and again NOT taking more money from people.
Star Wars was released several time on video tape.... in about 20 years.
How many times was Jaws released on video tape? Or Terminator 2? Or the Godfather? p. No one knows because no one pays any attention.

I've ordered Return of the King - the Extended Edition, released a few months after The Return of the King - the Theatrical Edition.
This is horribly repetitive, to the point of an obligatory reference, but Peter Jackson has said FROM THE VERY BEGINNING that the LOTR would come in TWO versions, the theatrical release, the movie for the public and an extended edition for the fans.
Others my, and do, (obligatory reference to Lucas and making super-duper, special extended editions of Star Wars, this time with all Ewoks replaced with singing Gun Gons **shutters**), attempt to milk the public for all there worth with endless special editions, but in the case of the LOTR you had a choice, you knew that the theatrical release would be released, and shortly thereafter the extended edition, so that if you choose, you could buy one or the other.
and i'm stickin by this
this sig has been discontinued.
Why exactly do you guys bother posting this kind of tripe? If you hate the films so much, move along. Go somewhere else. Do you really have nothing better to do with your time?
(Sorry for the first one)
Who shot first?
a) Greedo
b) Han Solo
c) Both at the same time
d) All of those answers
Yahh, hiii haaaaa! -Major Kong, from Dr. Strangelove
Last I checked, the most common answer to Star Wars trivial pursuit questions, was Hoth. If there is a reference to a planet or system, the answer is typically Hoth.
Being a DVD, you can be sure that many of the new questions will be visual.
Often wrong but never in doubt.
I am Jack9.
Everyone knows me.
I, for one, would love to see more sharks in my Star Wars!
Karma: It's all a bunch of tree-huggin' hippy crap!
You know you don't have to buy it, right?
