I actually asked him that (I knew the printer came with a minimum 1-year warranty) and his response was this, "I don't have time to deal with that crap. I just want a new printer."
In all honesty, I think he just wanted to take the aggression out on someone.
I agree. I didn't say he shouldn't be pissed. I'm saying he shouldn't take the route he did by cursing up a storm. I was just trying to do my job and if he didn't want the plan, I could give two hoots. But, all he had to say was, "No thanks." Heck, he could even say, "No thanks, those things are worthless" and I would have shrugged my shoulders and taken his printer to the front of the store.
The "you must be an f'ing idiot" remark was what kind of pissed me off. No matter how upset someone gets, there are just some things that you don't say to people.
I've had some sales experience and, yes, these gurus will most definitely be lightning rods for customer frustration...any customer frustration. It doesn't necessarily have to do with Windows Vista.
I had a guy tell me I was an f'ing idiot because I tried to sell him a warranty (AKA do my job) because his printer just broke (after 5 months, which our warranty would have covered). I wasn't pushy, but, man...that was just rude. I certainly didn't cause his $500 printer to crap out. It was nice when our manager kicked him out of the store and told the guy never to talk to his employees that way.
Some people just like treating other people like crap.
They are firmly ensconced in the corporate world, it will take a long time, but the direction is finally clear.
1989...er...1992...I mean...1995...crap...it was...2002/2003/2004/2005/2006/2007/2008 called and wants its premonitions of doom and gloom back. Microsoft is going strong and will be for some time.
I would tend to agree, actually. However...a couple different things.
1. According to this article, people stop to read e-mail and are interrupted anyway.
2. If someone is really bothering you that much, there are ways to tell them to leave you alone. Isn't that part of what "being professional" is?
3. E-mail wastes a lot of time generally speaking (more than a phone call). For example, say I e-mail you with something important (to me). You decide, "I'll do that in two days" and I can't complete my project now because you decided to wait. That's not good. You can be sure I'll be showing up at your office/cubical/etc. Relatively unimportant items can be e-mailed, though. I agree with that.
As far as not interrupting work, email is better than any other medium because I can choose when to read the message. That is not true if someone calls me, or walks into my cube.
Exactly. That's the entire problem with e-mail. I wonder how many times someone receives an e-mail to do something, or accomplish a task and says to themselves, "Well...I'll work on this later." Then, they wait, waste time, etc. If I want something done, I call the person or walk right into their cube.
Additionally, e-mailing someone does not count as contacting them. Until you hear their voice on the phone or see them face to face, you have not made contact with that person. /rant //e-mail is pretty useless in many situations ///give me the pony express
I suggest you think about changing your name to something that isn't obviously about hockey. I asked some coworkers and they agree, I'm not just some idiot.
Whatever company you are the CTO of, please let us know. Your understanding of what customers *actually* look for is refreshing. Far too many times, "tech types" do not seem to pick this up.
Why use IE at all? Try the Firefox plugin, IE Tab. Works great. (There is one site that I have run across that doesn't play nice with it, and I have to use Internet Explorer in that case. Other than that, it works wonderfully.)
Alright...so you didn't like Chrome. That's fair. It does have some of those problems that you discussed. (Although, when plugins are added, Adblock will most definitely be making an appearance.) A few of your complaints are also related to the fact that this is a beta web browser. Firefox had many of the same issues back when it was Phoenix.
Anyway, your last comment is just +1 Flamebait/Troll, etc. Google (generally) makes good products. Yes, they aren't perfect, but nobody is. And, this is why they release their stuff as beta in the first place. By doing that, they're saying - "We're not entirely happy with this tool yet and we're still working on it and want feedback from our users."
To me, $60 a month for *just* internet (and now limited internet at that) is too expensive. "Unreasonable" is a loaded word and could mean different things to different people.
For the same price, I can get faster internet and a good cable package from FIOS. To me, that is very worth it.
profit driven corporation
As opposed to those corporations that *don't* want to make a profit...
Cheap?! What are you smoking. I get internet by itself and I'm paying over $60.00 a month because they're the only service in the area.
I cannot wait until I can get FIOS. I'm switching immediately - as soon as it's in my area. According to current pricing plans, I get more bandwidth AND more television (and no stupid cap) for the same price.
No. I tried to sell him the warranty on the NEW printer that he was buying.
My mistake in the telling of the story.

You must be fun at parties.
(Not disagreeing with you, but part of the government's job is to halt monopolistic practices. One senator is working on that which is great IMO.)
Sounds like a sad Transformers sequel.
Almost as sad as the first one...
(If this doesn't get modded Insightful, I'm going to question the sanity of those who enjoy Shia LaBeouf's acting.)

This made me laugh out loud. Funny how stupid people always think they're smarter than they are.

Good stuff.
...is scary the next.
Granted, most people ignore the EULAs. But, what happens if the EULAs can actually be enforced?

...which is all Chrome exists for right now.
There was an article?
Ass sucking from start to finish. Classic Google.

I'll let the hype pass before I have a look.
I can't say I understand this comment.
Why not just look at it yourself right now and decide for yourself if the hype is worth it?
Not what I was going for. What is wrong from a scientific standpoint? (The direction LWATCDR was coming from.)
I'm actually curious - what *is* wrong with creationism? I don't know.
You're trolling, but I'll bite anyway.
I'm sick of paying unreasonable sums of money

You aren't going to EVER get someone with whom you agree with 100% all the time unless its you.
Oh...I don't even know about that.
Reminds me of a joke. "Hello! I'm schizophrenic and so am I."
And you're not smart enough to come up with a decent comeback. So I guess I still win.
...assuming, of course, that winning an argument on the internet can really be called winning.
Not bad for cheap McInternet service, I guess...

No, for always. I will not get social security. I may use Medicare - I don't know. Welfare...hmmm...don't see it happening.
Obviously I can't predict the future, but, for the most part, I do not see myself using those "public" services.
