I understand that Edward Snowden is widely considered a HERO! on Slashdot, but I'm wondering if you could explain why you think he would be suitable for the job as Director of National Intelligence?
What in his background makes you think he is the right person to lead tens of thousands of intelligence professionals in 17 different intelligence agencies with a total budget nearing $100,000,000,000 and wide ranging functions in working to prevent another Pearl Harbor, or 9/11 against the United States and its allies? His ability to keep a secret?
America shared satellite and signals intelligence, plus Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and Stinger hand-held missiles — though this was denied at the time.
. . ..One of the first things the US offered was fuel for the British Task Force and aircraft at the mid-Atlantic staging post of Ascension Island, which Britain leased to America.
“The underground fuel tanks were empty when the Task Force turned up in mid-April 1982,” recalls Major General Julian Thompson, then commanding the main Royal Marines assault force. The leading assault ship, HMS Fearless, did not have enough fuel to dock when it arrived off Ascension. The Americans diverted a supertanker to fill up the Navy’s tanks.
In short, your post was a load of rubbish. There weren't riots by Republicans, Romney or McCain supporters, when Obama was elected. And neither Romney nor McCain ran a campaign of racism, hate speech, sexism, and intolerance. You're piling up the rubbish rather quickly.
By the way, who was it that referred to her opponents in relation to a basket of "deplorable"? It wasn't Trump, was it?
Could you point out in the article where it documents an actual riot resulting from Barak Obama's election as you claim? There doesn't seem to be an actual riot from protests against Obama mentioned in the article. There are acts of violence by individuals, or a small group, but not actual riots. There is nothing comparable to what is going on in Portland.
Did you not read your own link? Or are you just bluffing to trick people?
In retrospect it turns out that the American public did reject one of the worst candidates in the last 50 years, and most Senate Republicans would agree with that. Fortunately due to Senator Reid (D-NV) it seems highly likely that there will be no obstruction in filling 99 open vacancies for federal judges. That might even apply to the Supreme Court. If they perform they will very possibly get what they deserve: reelection from a grateful nation.
The item below is dated before Trump's victory and the retention of the Senate by the Republicans. Democrats brace against potential 2018 Senate 'disaster' There are 25 Democrat seats up, and 8 Republican, basically the reverse of this year.
Of course two years is a long time in politics and a lot can happen between now and then.
More empathetic? Probably not. The sex predator couple that occupied the White House in the 90s, and was just defeated, didn't do anything like that. Of course maybe the Clintons were holding that for the 4th term lame duck surprise. That, and a pardon of Bills pedophile friend. Rumors.. rumors
Nice. A progressive Leftist is going after a progressive Leftist who was going after a corrupt progressive Leftist who beat another progressive Leftist due to aid from other corrupt progressive Leftists. The Revolution is eating its own as is typical.
So... you expect the Republican-controlled House & Senate to impeach a president of their own party?
Good luck with that.
Given sufficient cause I would expect them to, it is a question of law and order. Nixon knew Republicans would vote to remove him.
That is a much more open question when it involves Democrats as they tend to circle the wagons. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton demonstrate that, among others.
And a big part of that is the Republicans would have voted to remove him, and Nixon knew that.
I doubt it would be possible to remove a Democrat president from office unless there was a Republican super-majority in the Senate. Democrats tend to close ranks around their members when faced with wrong doing. You can see that with both Bill and Hillary Clinton, and other cases.
The problem isn't your vote. It's the political system that makes any votes other than for the two major candidates useless. US should look at the political system of pretty much any other democratic country and copy it. There are plenty to choose from and pretty much all will be better than the two party system.
The office of president is a one person office. More votes for 3rd, 4th, and 5th parties doesn't change that, and those parties already exist and get votes.
The overlooked virtue of the current system is that it pulls parties towards the center, away from extremes.
You aren't trying to claim that voting for extremists is a good thing, are you?
This kind of patronizing attitude is the most pervasive form of sexism. Women don't need "their turn" they're perfectly capable of competing for top jobs.
You know what I like best about the Barack Obama / Hillary Clinton era? All of the healing on relations between the sexes.
Former Obama campaign manager and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina said Priorities USA, the Super PAC he is co-chairman of, will support Hillary Clinton for president of the United States. Messina is also chairman of the 501(c)(4) Organizing for Action (formerly Obama for America). . . .
"You're pouring your money towards Hillary, correct?" Farrow asked Messina.
"Yep," Messina said. "We want Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States."
"It's her turn and her time," Messina also said. I think she would be the right leader for this country moving forward. And we're going to do whatever it takes to make sure she's the president of the United States."
You've been so helpful in identifying sexism. Why are there so many prominent sexists in the Democratic party? (hat tip )
Oh how I wish Trump were a Reagan. Not that I think Reagan's policies were all great, but he did do an excellent job of being presidential -- and that is important. It brings people together and gives them confidence in their leader and themselves. Trump... is less qualified than Reagan was at doing the day-in, day-out job of governing, and being presidential is completely beyond him.
I wouldn't get too whipped up about that. People are inclined to think of the President as a single person when in fact a presidency involves an entire team of people. There are plenty of highly talented, experienced people available to work for Trump to produce a highly successful term in office.
I say put Edward Snowden in the position.

USS Iwo Jima would have been loaned to the Royal Navy if the British had lost one of their capital ships during the Falklands War
Iwo Jima would have functioned well as a replacement for Invincible as it is a similar size and function and would have filled the gap.

So we're just completely forgetting the actual rioting that happened both times Obama was elected?

I noticed.
There has been way more than a few dozen cases of election fraud.
There were as more than 1,000 cases in just Minnesota in 2008. It is practically certain that fraud tipped the election and provided the path to Obamacare.

Who is it preaching racial identity politics today? It isn't the Republicans.
