Gentoo 2007.0 had a graphical installer too. I tried using it (almost 20 times), and never did get Gentoo installed with it. Then I went to the command line minimal install (stage 3), and got it up and running in the first shot.
I do agree that KDE 4.0 left a lot to be desired. I'm still running Fedora 8 on my laptop because of this, and my old desktop (under Gentoo) is running KDE 3.5 as well.
this is the area where piracy really does hurt companies. I am against Microsoft as much as most of slashdot is, but, this is the kind of thing that copyright law is meant to prevent.
PHP is just a scripting language, like PERL. The security issues come in with using it to handle web pages. (Although, I guess ASP.NET, PERL, C++, Java, Python, etc; all have that problem too).
