Many people understand digg's point of view. They just don't agree with the way the situation is handled. Perhaps things could have been done in a way to encourage user support by posting publically, when this first started, that there's a conflict of interest between the story and the finances of Revision3. Perhaps it will not have gotten to this point. Who knows?

I heard that submission has been turned off on Digg, and the admins are methodically deleting and burying stories that are related to this code, or comments on the conducts of digg admins themselves. It is hard not to think that this is censorship at work.

Same here. And then I left for a privately owned company that offered me the promise of stock options when it ever goes public. Heh. I guess I like pain.

  5. Re:Will these companies stay in business long? on Anti-Spyware Vendor Partners with Spyware Company? · · Score: 1
With spyware companies selling their software / service as advertising platforms (marketing-speak), many more companies who can't afford their own marketing will likely flock to them. With supposedly billions of dollars spent on Internet advertising each year, even a tiny piece of the pie will keep the spyware companies in busuiness. With anti-spyware companies caving in, perhaps these spyware companies are gaining legitimacy.

So we have spyware companies making money from ads, and anti-spyware companies making money / deals / whatever off of these spyware. The ones who truly suffer are the users who don't want to be bothered with these. The other users, who are click-happy, just keep this whole cycle going.

Reptition. Repetition. Repetition. It becomes easier after hearing the words multiple times. Most swear words, when uttered, carry emphasized intonation and/or volume. ('Cause when one's swearing at someone or something, one probably mean it!) :-) That probably helps them pick out words better because of the forceful nature in which they were uttered.

  7. Re:Should you vote? on Pre-Election Discussion · · Score: 1
The creators of that "Team America" movies (same guys behind South Park) got hammered because they said, basically, that if you're clueless don't bother to vote.

Their satirical view of the world is funny. Regardless of what their stance on this election is, I don't think anyone will be swayed by their sometimes whacked opinions. Awareness levels of what's at stake is pretty high, and any movies that make fun of it just bring more attention to it. People who will vote will still vote, and vote the way they want. People who don't normally vote might actually be aware that they should vote, and that their opinion might count. All in all, it helps to bring more exercise of this democratic process...

That is .009% of all the bars checked. Maybe they were selling booze or crack also.

Actually, getting caught selling drugs (period) is a death sentence. At any rate, China has a history of controlling information. Most media are government-owned. I think the ministers of information see the Internet as a threat because information on the Net is free...
