I hope Bush has only as much say in this as the leaders of other countries. America isn't the only country using the Internet and it certainly shouldn't be the only country controlling it.
How does staying in space for a month compare to laying in bed for a month because of some illness, with regard to exercise? Probably under a coma so the body doesn't move at all? Do we go under similar conditions or does the mere presence of gravity give a certain amount of "exercise" to the body and thus prevent the bone-loss/damage thing?
Replace "Apple" with "Microsoft" or any other company and you would have been modded +5 Insightful. It's contrasting to see so many positive responses towards Apple in this story.
Windows is "easy to learn without any effort". And whenever anyone on slashdot, or anyone else for that matter, talks about "easy to use", they're actually talking about "easy to learn without any effort". "Easy to use" is when you can convert a text file to all lower case, put space between lines, paginate it and do a shit load of other things in just one short line of commands. Or navigate through your file, edit, delete, insert etc., quickly without having to move your hand off the main keys, or even the keyboard, every time. "Easy to learn without any effort" is when you start your computer for the first time and a cute dialog appears asking if you want to take a "tour" of your OS. I've put some effort and learnt how to use my computer, so now Linux and *BSD are easier for me to use than Windows. Oh, and when it comes to using the full potential of your mouse, today's OSes don't even come close. Plan 9 OS is a start (and maybe OS/2, I haven't used it, but I've heard about it).
Speaking as a non-christian, I'd say give some credit to your religion. At least you've never killed people in the name of religion. Oh wait, you have. My bad.
$200,000 for going to space without going out of your ship is fair, but $1 million - 5 times as much - for going near the moon without going out of your ship is unfair?
Sysadmins have their fair share of idiots/lazy people who don't know jack shit about computers. And "ordinary people" also have their fair share of experience dealing with said sysadmins who won't rectify a recurring problem for weeks or months out of their own idiocy which is obvious to the "ordinary people" because of the obvious ease with which the problem can be rectified (No, really, a lot of us who get problems from sysadmins are good computer users who know that the sysadmin is being an idiot and an asshole)
My conection will go down anyway pretty soon. So will a lot of others'. And the tech-support will say something like there are viruses on both my two computers one of which runs Linux and the other runs (freshly installed) FreeBSD. Sysadmins are just like others, you know. There are as much idiots and incompentent, lazy goons among computer "geeks" as any other people. Oh, and the sysadmins aren't the only people keeping the businesses running. In fact, among the hierarchy of people who keep the world going, sysadmins and computer "geeks" in general come pretty low. And very few people have an organised worldwide "appreciation day". "Geeks" think too highly of themselves.
I can make an "apples and oranges" comment on every story and get modded +5 Insightful/Funny. It never gets old. Old idiots go and new idiots come every day. The new idiots imitate what the old idiots used to say and the newer idiots mod them up. It certainly reduces the net worth of a discussion forum. And the shorter your post is and the more domineering/assholic you sound, the higher you'll be modded up.
Teenagers talk more crap. Full crap. Pretty much everything they say in a large group is intended to rise their position in the social structure and/or score. In their small circles (usually just two-three people) they talk more honest (but still very dishonest) idiotic crap. They're always dishonest. Their jokes suck. They can almost never make a decision on an issue that isn't as usual as picking teams for a game. Adults too talk crap when they talk, but they know that they can't piss away their lives by talking crap. And they've grown up, so they talk a little less crap. Oh, and did I mention teenagers talk crap?
Furthermore, children do talk about important things, just rarely when adults are within earshot.
Rare. We were all teenagers (and kids) once. Most of us still are or have recently went out of teenage. The conclusions we derive about teenagers (and sometimes kids) are not (entirely) based upon observations we make when we're adults, but based upon observations we made when we were teenagers ourselves. It's simple, kids are dumb, the older the people, the smarter they are, until a certain age. I suppose that age is 25 beyond which you can't get wiser or smarter. I don't know, I haven't reached that age myself yet. Anyway. Kids, until they are about 15, are dumb and they know they're dumb and listen to adults. After about 25 they're wise enough to do on their. It's the age in between, especially between 16-20, when they're still dumb but they *think* they're smart. (Especially the Americans) That's when they're the biggest egotistic assholes. I know I'll get modded down for this, I just defined pretty much the entire slashdot audience.
It's a shame to the Americans. The Russians send a ship up practically every day and the Americans try to send one up and it's scattered all over their country. I have to admit, though, it was quite entertaining watching the Columbia fireworks (just like most of you enjoyed watching the fireworks over Baghdad on CNN).

Hehehehehe.
Come on, I think slashdot can differentiate between "adult content" and child pornography.
This is still funny?

It's administer not administrate.
Well said.
So true.

That's it? That's all you can come up with? Why reply then?

It's nice to see all the derogatory comments by the jealous Americans.
Dude.
Lindows(spire) and OS X target the same audience, after all.
Oh my god.
How did AMD pay Intel for x86, BTW?
Not maintenance and repairs. They're taking a replacement US flag since the last one was worn out after all the ass-wiping the Russians did with it.

So, the Iraqis are the guinea pigs.
