  1. Re:Not On Me. on U.S. Scientists Create Zombie Dogs · · Score: 1

Please RTFA before making such idiotic comments. Noone or nothing was brought back from the dead. What they did do was keep the dogs in "dead" state for 3 hours by replacing their blood with an ice cold salt solution and then put the blood back in and bring them back to life. In other words, they were able to "kill" living and healthy dogs (by replacing their blood with salt solution), keep them dead for three hours and then bring them back to "life" (put the blood back in). Of course grandparent doesn't want this to be done to him. He doesn't want to be "killed" and then brought back to life - he's afraid that something might go wrong, and rightfully so. They are not doing this on dead things - they are doing this on alive and healthy beings (not that I'm necessarily against it).

THANK YOU. We earn less money here in developing countries than in developed ones. But almost everything costs proportionately less too. From food and clothing to TVs to western books. When western companies try to sell their product here, they sell at lower companies than the west, so everything works out. EXCEPT for software and movies, and sometimes music. They are sold at the same prices as the west. The companies try to push their products in various ways, like advertising. It means they want to earn money from our market, which has a "lesser" economy. And it's all good, I'm not against that. But if they want to earn money in this market, then they should compromise and sell at prices we are willing to pay. Otherwise they can just leave. You can't have everything - you can't both enter a cheaper market AND expect to earn the same amount per unit as you were in the costlier market.

BTW, you have no idea how much it pisses me (and possibly others) off whenever slashdotters talk like it's in the nature of developing countries to "steal" and we are all thieves. But obviously no slashdotter cares about others, so this probably means nothing to you. Just in case anyone wanted to know.

Just go to any IRC channel on freenode or make a comment against popular belief on slashdot - you'll know the meaning of "asshole". And in case you're reading this and wondering if you're one of the assholes -- guess what, you probably are. Almost everyone here on slashdot, including, possibly, me, are assholes.

And no, "geeks" being assholes is not "adorable" or "amusing". It's just bad. And retarded in many cases.

Yeah, China - which hosts millions of tourists every year - will make a list of a few people and try to filter them out. And we all know that they're more concerned with filtering out bloggers than national security or something similar.

So 12 year old girls don't even have to enter these room for the harm to take place. Why do slashdotters become so defensive whenever an article about something bad happening on the Internet (or computers in general) shows up? If it's fear that this will lead to censoring of the Internet, it's still not justification enough to lie that things like this don't happen.

He made personal comments during the BitKeeper issue (although I can't seem to find it now). And now, when De Raadt, at his most personal, said that Torvalds isn't focusing on quality as the maintainer of the Linux kernel, Torvalds, in response, made a personal comment about De Raadt, saying that he is "difficult". I don't see how that's classy or "quality". It seems more like Torvalds thinks this is all a big popularity contest and this is really an argument about who has the bigger dick. This about BSD and Linux, not about the maintainers of BSD and Linux (kernel).

After they're all *nixes, so I believe they do. And, of course, can you explain to me how BSD, especially OpenBSD, has better security? Is it just default setting or something more? And I'd like to know about these from the perspective of a user, developer and developer of the OSes. Thank you.

The sending party does, after all, want the recieving party to use the document and take action upon it in favour of the sending party. The reciever, if he publishes it on a website, might just be asking for legal opinion from his legal consultants who happen to be the readers of that particular website. Of course, it might be copyright protected just like regular stuff, but we can't just assume that. So, are there any lawyers here who can clarify? (What a redundant question.)
