I thought the same thing for the first week I had a Wii. don't get me wrong, when people come over its fun to bowl, but I own 2 dozen 360 games and 3 Wii games. FYI the 360 outsold the Wii for September, and Halo 3 was only out for 5 days. The Wii fad is on the way out, but it is a nice toy.
Yeah but we've been hearing this argument for almost 1 year now (Lair is just around the corner!), and yet no one besides a few hardcore fanboys have bought the PS3. NPD numbers for the 360 show 5 days in September (Halo 3 launch on Sept 25) put the 360 above the Wii in units sold. Unreal.
The PS3 needs games, and the games you listed are NOT system sellers not matter how hard you want them to be.
Yes, but those are Red Ring of Death issues, which normally doesn't manifest itself as a game lockup. I know, I'm on my second 360.
Game lockups on the 360 are a result of poor coding and QC. Call of Duty 3 locked up alot until a great patch was issued (under rated game for online MP IMHO) and The Orange Box also locked up frequently until its first patch came out, hopefully its second will fix lag issues.
My guess its the game he is playing...it could be some other problem though (like bad hardware). Wrap a towel around it until it overheats & return it, it has a 3 year warranty.
Well, if Sony didn't force a non-standard propietary format (UMD) down your throat when you bought one they probably would have done better. They failed with Betamax, then UMD and now BluRay on the PS3Cast.
although the XBOX has been around for some time now, the PS2 is still vastly outselling them.
Dude, Xbox1 was taking off the market, like 1.5 years ago. The PS2 better outsell it! And if you are refrring to the X360 ? check your sales figures again. The PS2 may have more "numbers" for a $129 item, but at $399 the 360 is right there with it (within a few % points) and still #1 next gen gaming console.
Lets talk about what developers care about. Games sold and install base. 5.7 games per 360. Under 2 for PS3Cast (same as PS2, they are bought by casual developers and don't have many million+ titles, the 360 has a dozen or so now? This early? Yes.)
Also: Sony makes consoles for an 8-10 year lifespan, not the short lifespans of Microsoft's consoles. Already, Microsoft has run into problems with their "last-gen" tech choices and has announced the Elite version of the 360 for later this year, which will have a much larger hard drive than the 20 GB og today's Premium, and also a HDMI port for digital video.
Exactly. And if they expect 256 MB RAM and the inferior graphics capabilities to stand up for 10 years they are in trouble. Another Xbox will come out, and MS will release a Blu-Ray add-on to their current unit if needed.
Looks like M$ will come out on top, and total sales figures supports that.
Leave Texas. It is the ultimate pro-business state, in a country controlled by politicians who are bribed by corporations , that is saying a lot. Good luck, but the judge will automatically side with the corporation suing you. You are unpatriotic!
That's not in any way true. Multiple Apple's sales by 3, and their profit by 4, and you got Sony. Sony has $32B in short term assets. Sony is quite healthy, financially. I don't know where you got your information.
Did you read your link ? Guess not, its data that is one year old, and even with that their Net Income is $1 million per year. You think that is "healthy" ? With 62bn in revenue, to only profit 1 million ?
*sigh* OK I'll try to go slow for you. the 360 has been out for over 1 year and still sold 1.1 million units during the opening month of the PS3 and Wii. The Wii is not on store shelves. 300,000 PS3's rot on store shelves (see link I posted above). So, with people still buying the 360 (10 million total, 1.1 million last month) and 1.4 million PS3's total & 300,000 PS3's on shelves, one can easily see there is NO demand for the PS3 to move it at the rate the 360 is moving. Forget comparing it to the Wii.
Goto Google or joystik's website and see the articles about both game stores if you don't belive me. The Ps3 has failed, totally. Sorry , I know it hurts!
They also give $50 off a Wii when you trade in your GameCube. I guess by your logic people are still buying the GameCube but not the Wii.
Nice strawman Sony fanboi! Actually, they used to give you $50 for your PS2, but upped it to $100 if you bought a PS3 also during your tradein. You see, they are losing money on the PS3, bigtime, and want to get rid of it "somehow".
I hate to reply twice, but to further refute your point, it is happening in the US but in a slightly different manner. Gamestop & EBGames announced $100 off the PS3 if you turn in your PS2. Apparently people bought, and continue to buy, the Wii, 360, and PS2, just not the PS3 or its sister console, the Dreamcast.
Actually, the PS3 isn't selling in the US either. And its not because Sony can meet demand, its because demand isn't there. Sony released this news and MarketWatch carried it on 1/16 , Slashdot just hasn't carried it yet.
http://www.vgcharts.org/news.php?id=58
However, he continued, "The PlayStation brand doesn't appear to be helping the PS3. If NPD's numbers are correct, there are over 300K PS3s on retail shelves. That is not good for a console launch of only a million and it's not good for publishers with PS3 software."
Would you like some nails for your coffin?
Yeah! And the picture was almost visible between the intereference, snow and static, and the radio had the Little Orphan Annie show whose main goal was to get you to drink Ovaltine!
Sorry, but I watch HDTV over the air for free as well. Its a lot better than the "olden days" which I remember.
Windows copying has not improved
This is another one I'll give him, copying and the associated network issues are a problem MS needs to fix. For the entire OS to seize up because a network location is unreachable is just stupid.
I agree, that is why I stopped using Ubuntu. Everytime a DVD wasn't recognized, the whole thing locked up, cold boot only solution. Stupid.
...for Sony who in this record breaking time frame are missing sales forecasts for the PS3 by 25%:
http://www.vgcharts.org/news.php?id=58
TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Sony Corp. (6758.TO) will reach only 75% of its global target for PlayStation 3 sales this fiscal year through March, according to a Nomura report released Monday.
I guess that dust on top of those PS3's on all the store shelves isn't because Sony has been meeting demand, eh?

Um, read the article, read first post, then read my reply. I'll wait....
OK, you will see I am replying to an obvious troll or Sony fan boy who is posting an obvious lie about the 360. I reply with actual data, that I linked to, showing that he is wrong (360 is beating the PS3 heavily). What don't you get ? Just mod me informative and move along:)
Is it that hard for Sony fan boys to accept that the PS3 is the next Dreamcast ? Decent hardware, but developers don't write games for it, because no one buys it, and it gets worse from there ? Deal with it bub, I know you just flushed $900 down the toilet, but maybe you can sell it on eBay and make some back ?
PS3 ?? Where ?? Its been a month now since I started looking everywhere to get my hands on a 60g PS3. They are nowhere to be found except online on ebay.
You are joking right ? Gamestop just announced $100 off the 60Gb or 20GB PS3 if you give them your PS2, the PS2 sells the PS3 is eating their shelf space. Check your newspaper or just to your local gamestop, huge sign in front of the two GS stores in my area.
With the giant unsold stacks of ??
I think you meant PS3's that are unsold ? http://www.vgcharts.org/news.php?id=58

I don't think M$ has anything to worry about, given its gigantic lead http://www.vgcharts.org/
Well M$ used North America as a test bed for that content. Once perfected, they will gladly take money from the rest of the planet. Would you rather they release it to the entire planet at once without a testbed ? Did you ever develop an application, ever test it before giving it to all of your users at the same time ? How come French TV stations don't release new TV shows to America first ? If that is your biggest complaint, get a job and a mortgage.

Have fun running Folding@Home 1.3 this X-mas.
Spiderman 3 is available on the X360, so will be GTA4. The question is why do I need to spend another $600 for PS3Cast ?
