"The latest fad games are almost always extremely boring, or extremely complicated when compared to classics like Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Risk, Monopoly, and other classics."
Did anyone else feel like they'd been slapped in the face to hear Trivial Pursuit called a "classic"? Don't get me wrong -- it deserves the honor, but it seems like yesterday that my family brought home the original ("Genus"?) version and started wasting away the hours.
If you're gonna use Windows, you might as well drink the koolaid. Create these folders in your My Documents folder (which you can add a shortcut for to the desktop, if it's not already there). One very nice thing that's been happening in Windows over the past several years is that most developers (even Corel, finally) are using My Documents or a subdirectory thereof to store user data. This really makes things easier when it's time to back that data up.
Uh, don't most of us work in IT or as programmers? I'd think that a sudden need for 24/7 staffing would be an attractive turn of events! No more crying about how hard it is to find a job!
I think you're ignorant of the problems faced by many on the day of release. I have access to a T3 at work and 3MB cable at home, but was unable to play the game for 3 days (apparently -- my best guess) because the Steam servers were too busy processing registrations. That was utter torture, and it's a damn good thing the game turned out to be well worth the (many years and) 3 days wait.
"I've been coming across popup ads in firefox even with popup blocking on for a couple of months now, though luckily not too many."
No offense to the parent post, here, but is that what goes for "+4 Insightful" these days? It's called an "observation".
"I was thinking "Akbar and Jeff""
You are not alone!
"Wasn't an option when I was in school."
It's been law for at least 10 years that schools not only need to release you for college classes and give you credit, but also pay for them.

Car speedometers display speed in both mph and kmph.
I've never seen a speedometer that didn't display both mph and kmph.
No, they have "we have you surrounded" sound.

Did you just use "apex" and "better DVD player" in the same post? Isn't that the brand they sell at Wal Mart for $15?

My favorite game of all time (until last month, anyway) was No One Lives Forever 2. Deathmatch add on was not released for weeks.
