While the poster's intentions are great, the description doesn't help much at all.
To do an actual spark test, you would take a piece of known metal, spark it (with the hand grinder as described in the post) and spark the material in question. Some tool steels (like M42) give off a red spark.
Other characteristics of Ti:
Titanium is not magnetic!
Titanium will explode in powder form (seriously, I was machining Ti for a couple days straight and a spark lite my pile of chips on fire!)
Titanium is the 9th most abundant material on Earth (it's in everything, but rarely found by itself)
Most Ti deposits (with less impurities) are found in good ol' Russia
Using my son's highlight footage for a class (VC&D) project and uploading it to YouTube?

Maybe I should be saving that for scouts....
Either way, the video is dark, but what do you think?
All of the complaints that I've read on this thread are complaints that I've heard before... back when it was DOS vs Windows.
I personally never thought that Windows would catch on. Specifically I said, "DOS is functional, and Windows is pretty, why upgrade" Or the infamous slogan, "want to turn your 386 into a 286? Install Windows".
Fact of the matter is, we complain about MS and it's newest version... but we still install it. And pretty will usually beet out functionality. Ask any Web Developer. If you make two apps, one that's web based and the other not, the web based version will be more desirable and popular in the long run. I remember all the complaints with XP (oddly similar to the complaints now), but it was still adapted. It's funny to hear everyone say how good XP is. This time last year, XP sucked.

For the popup ads during my ATM transaction! Can you imagine the joy of the marketing deparment when you can just push this button and it will automatically deduct the funds and ship to your address on file!?
You live in an apt.... use wires. Your longest stretch can't be more than 20 ft.
Secure - Check!
Interference - Covered!
Cheaper - YEP!
Faster LAN - You Bet!
Sit on the couch w/ you laptop, watch TV, Surf Porn, drink beer, and get fat - Ok, maybe you should have a wireless
"Meteor experts don't think it's a meteor. Atmospheric scientists don't think it's lightning".
What do they know? Those stupid hacks still can't predict the weather tomorrow. It appears to be lightning hitting the dock light. Or a blown transformer w/ a projectile.
With the liberals at their heels, what do you expect? Now adays, NASA has to worry that if something doesn't work, they'll be sued and gain a neg public image. BUT if you allow private industry to do all the dev work and just buy an end product, it's "safer." Case in point: if the space shuttle blows up, it's a horrible tradgity and makes the world news - NASA is not expected to make mistakes. If some shmuck makes a rocket and it doesn't work and blows himself up - it's kind expected.
Besides, there's way too many idiot out there today, let's let them thin the population.
... I never leave my basement during daylight hours. I would have to set up something to allow light to stream into the house... I would probably have to cut a 4 foot wide gap through my house and the two neighbors houses so that the shadows don't distort my clock.
Oh, the humanity... image if someone where to ask, "what time did it start raining?" I would never be able to answer that question.
This is a really geeky product - not so nerdy. It is really kewl and I want one, but how much would I use it?
Last idea, what if you made a LARGE compass - enough so that this clock can float on the arm. Then you can use it in your car - only at red lights.

STOP THE INSANITY!
An IPOD is 0.27in thick
0.27in/1 * 0.0254m/1in * 1nm/10^-9m = 0.006858 * 10^9 = 6.9*10^6nm = IPOD NANO
45nm/1 * 1IPOD NANO/6.9*10^6nm = 6.5*10^-6 IPOD NANOS
That would be:0.0000065 IPOD Nanos to the 45 nanometer chip technology
I knew those chemistry conversion factors would come in helpful some day!!!

You won't have to worry about dust!
I have an idea until solid state HD's become standard. We'll put the OS on a ROM chip. Oh, wait, my Tandy did that years ago...

Your solution is very logical and possible.

This should be deleted. This is really sorry.
