I've always found it ironic that HP got in bed with Intel on the Itanic because Alpha was cleaning their clock. Then the P2 came out an upset the whole apple cart and low and behold 10 years later HP owns Alpha.
Running Tiamat on my Xoom isn't that much faster than stock firmware. In fact, the default browser I'm using seems to be a LOT slower, but it's full chrome over standard browser (IIRC).
If you believe that man's destiny is the stars, then human spaceflight is not pork. They way we're doing it today, it is. What should be done is find some volunteers to make a one-way trip to LEO and keep them there for 50 years. All the science you want.
At the very least, periods of time like 2-5 years. Recovering from that is not much worse than recovering from a 5 year coma, right?
I'm innovating all the time. I have a shit-ton of ideas sitting around that I'm tinkering on that probably won't make me a single penny, but are useful devices. Odds are I'll use open source to make them available to the world. If I can open source 3d models of product bodies as well I'll do it.
This is an example of how badly corporate sites fuck it up (my current employer is a perfectly good example).
The browser tells you which language is preferred - there's no need to hardcode it in a URL. And if they want to switch/override, put it in a fucking cookie.
www.hp.com/products/PRODUCTNUM. WTF is so hard about that?
IBM POWER has a HUGE Linux following - and it's officially supported on all of IBMs machines, from the lowest eServer to the largest of their mainframes.
Zim is definitely NOT what I would call extremely cross platform. It works on Linux and Windows.
Evernote works on Linux, Mac, Windows, my Xoom tablet, and all my iOS devices as well as the web client if I happen to need Evernote from my Solaris machine. Evernote is a killer app (but it has plenty of room for improvement). Nevermind the web-clipper!
OneNote is a better tool overall (just in features), but it's lack of non-Windows support is a non-starter for me.
The Instruction set architecture (ISA) tells how much memory can be addressed as a pointer (like C++). In the 32bit ISA that's 4GB. In a 64bit ISA that's a shitload more.
Intel CPUs for a long time could actually address 36bits of memory, the so-called Page Address Extensions (PAE mode) - exposed in Windows Server, for example. But programs on those CPUs could only access 4GB at a time continguously.
Basically it's the size of the largest array you could allocate and walk with pointer arithmetic, ie: *(i++)
I don't understand that. E=mc^2 is not an infinite formula. It's fucking huge amounts of energy, but I never quite make the leap to understanding how it's INFINITE.
That's not true. Some of their updates come at a cost. That hasn't applied to iPhones in a while, but ipod touch 2's going to iOS4 had to pay to upgrade. I have to pay to get 10.7 on my Mac Mini.
Fuck that shit. I've been sold what is effectively a pocket computer - no way I'm going to be happy with the status quo when my phone can be made better.
Shit - I had better software support from my Palm Treo than this. 5 fucking years ago.

Sad, really.
Load up the new launcher beta and load all the existing apps.
Growth only applies if you wish to play the stock market "gambling" game.
Profits (and dividends) matter if you really want to make reliable money.
I haven't twitched so much since first playing Doom 3 years ago.
Creepers are both awesomely cute and adorable and give me chills.
But is this akin to a company refusing to give back a phone number you've ported to their account?
Then again, whoever would be that stupid?
Even though it traverses hills, it looks like it's confined to a geometric rectangle.

No, I'm not overclocking.

Stop the looting - start the prosecuting!
i think it had more to do with best buy than hp....
Open source cars. :-)
But this never goes into a human body - why is the FDA even involved?

You might as well ask why people believe in God or the WTC was felled by controlled demolition.
Intellectual frailty.

This can happen even to newer airlines, as these usually buy older planes off of larger carriers.

Care to provide evidence to back up your assertion? The author surely did. I have a Moto Droid, so I know he was honest about that.

Pah! 9 Megatons to the moon as a zit is to an elephants ass. Nothing.
Which makes no sense, because pretty much everywhere access to the water is generally more MORE expensive than plain old fashioned land.
