Are they only counting the places where people go to the page and do a search or are they counting all the 'embedded' searches which are snuck into other apps like IE and Windows Live to boost numbers?
That was just a lie. They really wanted the reactors so they could make bombs.
The real problem is that nuclear R&D has been put on the back burner for four decades (after they had enough bombs to destroy the world a dozen times over). The first pebble bed reactor went into service in 1966... what exactly has happened since then?
Where would they get all the hi-resolution, fully textured, up to date city-wide 3D models from?
Because unless they have those models this is moot... you can do a far better job using static images like Google streetview does (and which an iPhone is perfectly capable of rendering in real time).
We've also figured out how to make memory management a non-issue, we don't want no steenkin' garbage collection.
I looked at GO and I'm not sure what it brings to the table that can't be done better with C++.
Maybe
a) Slightly cleaner syntax - no big deal once you're used to C++. b) No pointer arithmetic - less chance of stray pointers, sure, but you should be using STL anyway. If you're still banging pointers around in C++ you're Doing It Wrong (except for very low-level code).
Laser etching can be art, too. Once they get the machines installed you can bet they'll start doing fancy designs - Halloween pumpkins with the faces etched on, special limited edition designs on all your favorite Xmas fruits (collect them all!), Chinese fruits with fortunes etched on them, the only limit is your imagination!!
If you spilled beer in the keyboard would you expect them to replace it under warranty?
And when something is that small/light/portable the gyroscopes in the hard disk are going to take a lot more stress when they're spinning.
Yeah but who needs personal responsibility in a land full of lawyers?

>Don't be an idiot. ...the bulk of the 10% we're talking about here consists of people using the IE8 UI.
Um, that's what I said.

Thought so.
...and I haven't got any, snif.
On the bright side, this doesn't seem to be happening over here in my country.

Try making a game which features Abu Ghraib.

You probably don't even need that.
a) Set an administrator password, make them all non-admins. Do NOT tell them the admin password, EVER.
b) Get some disk imaging software so you never have to "reformat and reinstall everything".
Somebody has to complain first.
Anything but "Go' ... Googling the word "go" was never going to have a happy ending for people looking for programming information.
I'm not sure SQL counts as a programming language
Similarly, HTML also has an 'L' in the name but I don't count that either.
The 1990s is calling and wants the C vs. C++ wars back.
They're the only two features of Go which stand out, and I'm not sure I want either of them.
PS: While we're fixing C++ can we get rid of arrays? (ie. new[] and delete[] )
We've also figured out how to make memory management a non-issue, we don't want no steenkin' garbage collection.

Set up some accessible pages with just the headlines, they can auto-forward you to the pages with the text.
When you're a tub of lard, it's the lard that'll go.
Simple explanation: That's what the body stores it for...
This is "Troll" and the parent is "Funny"?
More proof that even slashdot readers are mullet-totin' rednecks.
So ... that software I wrote for E-on to let design windfarms is a figment of my imagination?
Have you ever lived in another country? (Do you even own a passport?)
Maybe they're not like you see on American TV.
Can't they attach a parabolic mirror the the elevator and use the sun for power.
They could get more than 400W from a mirror, easy...

...'cos if you don't then it's not really a problem, is it?
