Since January of 2005 I have not been doing "free" Tech Support for family of friends. It was getting to be a serious PITA and I was getting Tech Support requests as late as 2:00 am!!! Most of the requests were for stuff that they could easily fix themselves such as:
My printer won't print - Drive 60 miles to house and switch on printer!
My printer won't pront (2) - Drive 60 miles and plug printer cord in!
Windows won't let me in - Forgot user password.
Computer is SOOO slow and I have soemthing important to do - Computer is FULL of Spyware and viruses again and the important thing they had to do was play SOLITAIREEEEEEE!!!!!
Ahhhhh on 1st of January to much outcry I stated I would have to start charging a nominal fee ($10 an hour, which is NOTHING really!) and after that the calls dried up 100%!!
WHY, oh WHY did this story even make it onto the page? With modern cellphone batteries lasting 7-10 days between charging and giving talktime of 6-7 straight hours the item is pretty much superflous.
1. Set up a WebCam with a fee to the 'net.
2. Plug the tubes into a power supply.
3. Power On
4. Enjoy the sight and sounds of thousands of irreplacable tubes exploding:-)
Is it just me or are CellPhones now reaching "Feature Bloat"? Seems like it is getting more and more difficult to get a Cell that is JUST a cell phone!
Am I the only one who wants a cell to only make and receive calls?
Way to go AOHELL , most of the world is moving TO Broadband and High-Speed and you guys are moving OUT of it?! What's the plan, hoping that there will be a revival of Dial-Up?
Is there so little going on in the world right now that we need to discuss the merits of ROOMBA vs SEGWAY ? As long as my ROOMBA keeps the house clean I could give a FLYING FART if it can beat a SEGWAY or not! News for Nerds. Stuff that nobody cares about!
Is it such a good idea for a country with a BAD track record for "friendly fire" incidents during time of war to have Space Weapons ? One targetting error and OOPS a city block got vaporized by accident! I'd hate to see the insurance claim on that one!
