Oh yeah? In my day when we wanted to send a message to a friend we took a piece of parchment and scripted out a letter. It made us put a lot of thought into the letter because we used elaborate handwriting. After the ink dried, we rolled it up and attached it to a pigeon.
I for one applaud the editor for using the print link. It saves me from having to click through probably 5-10 pages. I wish all editors would follow suit.
Have you ever been on a 0day site? Even the crappiest games get cracked. Sure the big scene groups may not bother with them, but smaller groups still crack them.
The only copy protection that works is games with amazing online multiplayer.
I took an Intro to Engineering class a few years back and they teach you to write in all caps. This is because it is easier to read illegible handwriting this way. IMO, doctors should be forced to write this way.
If you need to stay cutting edge, why not use a rolling distrobution such as Arch or Gentoo? You could also set up your own repository where you build the Suse packages once and then push them out to all systems.
I did something similar to replace my HP laptop power brick. I simply mentioned that I almost burned myself on it and a new one was shipped out immediately. Granted I don't think I could burn myself, but the power brick was running a lot hotter than it should have so I just exaggerated a little bit. Whenever something is malfunctioning, simply mention almost being injured by it and companies will most likely send you a replacement item (within reason). It's cheaper to send a $20 power brick then pay a lawyer to just read a lawsuit being brought against them for negligence.
There is no one technique to ski. People learn different ways. For example Bode Miller has a sort of homegrown technique that is very different than other racers. The reason why there is no one technique is because it differs based on weight distribution, equipment (skis, bindings, boots, etc..), and snow conditions. You ski very different on ice then you do on powder.
The headline is misinformative. Based upon the headline I would have expected to read about a company hiring a bunch of developers for a lot of money to code something cool in javascript. Perhaps a more appropriate headline is "Javascript locked out Opera, Opera locked out the company."
I can't believe this post is on Slashdot. First of all, the iPod is just a mass storage device so virii and malware can infect it. Infact Apple even decided to infect Windows with their iPod. McAffee felt the need to create an iPod malware removal tool.
And how long are people going to perpetuate the myth of OSX being 100% secure. Security through obscurity does not count. Granted most current virii for OSX requires a user giving root access to the program, but let's face it a lof of OSX users aren't technical savy. I would venture out to say most don't even know why they occasionally have to type their password in.
Maybe if Google partners with Adobe we will finally get decent flash support on Linux, especially since Google owns Youtube. The current flash plugin is horribly inefficient for Linux.
I hate to inform you, but the days of memorizing periodic tables are gone. I have recently taken some college chemistry classes and the high numbered elements are never mentioned outside of general properties they all have in common.
The reason why universities teach fortran still is because it is very simple to learn. My roommates were taught it and they had trouble with the language. I couldn't imagine trying to teach them a more complex language. The most important thing about learning your first language is not the actual syntax, it is learning how to think.
I for one have used Spotify in the past. I no longer use it because every couple weeks I had to hunt down a British proxy in order to log in--Spotify isn't available in the US yet, hence the proxy. However for the two months I did use it, I loved it. The music library is a decent size, the playlists work well, and it even has the ability to have collaborative playlists. The creator of uTorrent, Ludvig Strigeus, is involved with Spotify. Granted, Spotify did not stop me from downloading music due to needing to put music on my iPod, I did download a lot less during those months. Spotify allowed me to listen to complete albums without needing to download first. This resulted in me only downloading the albums I really wanted on my iPod. Also, probably the most convienant part of Spotify was that I was able to set my laptop out at parties and people could add almost whatever song they could think of onto the playlist.
Spotify will not replace downloading, but I do believe that it will significantly reduce it.
How would they know if you downloaded an item illegally? If they knew someone downloaded movies, then why wouldn't the FBI already be on their front step because of those FBI warnings? To me this seems about as practical as the war on drugs.
I don't understand how the microhone operates. They show the device located directly in front of the tv, a spot where many people place their center speaker in a 5.1 set up. The game will have to completely mute the center channel in order for the microphone to work, thus making the game 2.1 (or 2.1 x2).
No, their customer service is still just as bad. Also, their website doesn't take orders all the time. I ordered a gift for christmas (Logitech Harmony remote) and it never got billed to my credit card. By the time I realized this, the price went up 20 dollars and their customer support wouldn't give me the old price.
Newegg for life.
This is the answer. I'm sick of the government using billions of dollars to make it harder for people to get their hands on some weed. All it does is make it harder to get good weed.
Go fucking wild.

This is the most logical comment. I wish it were higher up.

Looks fine in lynx. Have you tried that?

Did you mean Cockta? I certainly hope not, that stuff is awful.

Is this the future of DRM?

The link is dead, can you please reupload? I also can't seem to find part2 anywhere. Link?
I concur.
