A worm which would spread fast like slammer and destroy infected machines after a short time is actually benevolent. It will destroy only machines that would otherwise be used as spam zombies. The day after the outbreak the internet would be clean again!

Why would anyone want to 'switch' to the Mac now when it is running on intel? 1. people who ran a linux on AMD will not switch 2. people who ran a linux on x86 will not switch 3. people who had a PPC Mac hate this, actually they might switch to a Linux now as their old machine is going to phase out 4. big enterprises won't buy a Mac, it is a desktop machine The only market Mac can tear into is the Windows desktop. Compared to Windows it might be more ergonomic and stable. And probably even more user friendly. Their prices are now closer. So, this move can harm Windows, but not Linux.

The part about /tmp should have 10MB is quite lame. If your windows has no space on the HD, quake will crash there as well. Don't forget about DirectX versions either. You might say WinXP has the right DX version, but then, a sufficiently recent Linux distro can run Quake3 just as easily. It is even possible you can find Quake3 on the distro's DVD. Generally, you are right, however. Windows is generally better for running games. Most likely because gamers are usually not programmers.

How many IRIX is still on the net? One would believe dosnets are viable only on an OS (aside from OS vulnerabilities) with a large and ignorant user base. Maybe in the future you'll see linux dosnets but i guess they are only in your fantasy.
