Yes, but there are a few problems:
1. other rootkits are not documented so well.
2. other rootkits are not coming with a nice installer
3. other rootkits you may not own legally (is this legal?)
4. other rootkits are not so easily usable, here you just rename a folder to $sys$*
Now with this hype every script kiddie will buy a DRM enhanced Sony CD and spice up their own viruses with minimal work.
You just allowed to install an innocuous media player, sure it wants to write in the registry!
Why would anyone disable it.
On the other hand, everyone should disable autorun, and look for executables on a sound cd only when they cannot play the tracks by conventional methods. (wmp, winamp etc).
You forgot the 'fiction' part.
Star Trek is sci-fi
With that lot of techno babble, it cannot be fantasy.
It doesn't have to be actual science, or even future science.
If there are particles, warp drive and such, instead of magic and dragons, it is sci-fi:)
Star Wars is a curious mixture, but it is still considered sci-fi.
If you want to see real fantasy, check out Conan, or the Lord of the Rings.
Why didn't your name was banned on first logon.
Why did they let you play half a year with such a name, if it IS a real policy and not just an overzealous GM?
I wonder what's the problem

I would be happy with that $53000 too.
I get less than half of that!
I don't know if it is criminal or not, but violating the GPL equals to violating copyright law, unless you got another license (in case of dual licensing) to hide behind.
A possible angle:
A non-rewritable DVD can't have protection like playing it 5 times then going trash.
A hard drive version could maintain a counter and then self-destruct.
Ok, and now tell me how to grow crystals in microgravity without going out to space?
How to make sure a single idiot on earth won't destroy humankind completely without establishing settlements in other worlds?
Sure, some money and life was wasted, but the US government wasted more in Iraq.
The environment will recover by washing away all the coastal cities of the world:)
Just how many of those are in the USA?
Don't disparage Earth's recovering abilities.
Funny you say that.
When I was seven and sitting in the bathtub, i frequently played with soap foam galaxies.
They formed, separated and collided.
Until the water got too cold and all of the galaxies got flushed in the drain.
Solaris isn't even as 'free' as Linux.
MacOSX isn't free at all.
So I wonder why are they even brought up.
Abolishing the GPL would benefit M$ only.
I think it is quite good that we have Linux AND the BSDs.
Everyone can pick the best for their taste, and shut up about the licenses.
Who cares if Linux doesn't work for everyone, it works for me:)
Let me explain: bad patents are bad and good patents are good.
There is no such a rule that the slashdot crowd hates patents.
Probably software patents are all bad.
No, he donated the money I had to pay him because i was forced to write my documents (school, office) in M$ Word, or because I was sold a computer with pre-installed Windows.
He stole money from many people like me and then gave back a tiny fraction it.
Sounds like some people should be fired for downloading unnecessary files by office machines and/or not securing them enough.

Hmm, you said endless loop? Like in: while(true) { litigate(); }
Except when there is a smell of oil.
So you have to use Gaim+firefox, preferably on linux :)

We talk about data, not crappy ms software.
I don't wish anyone suffer 'competition' from M$. It is not about who is better, it is about who can bribe more bigwigs.

Who said anyone must be in the next compartment?

Nah, it was a desk!

Let's see the Java OS then :)
Makes even more sense to offer security software with an OS with security holes. Is it ethical though?
They will buy a chinese DVD player. Clever chinese, heh?

because their crappy software removed a legal media file of similar title as a protected one.
