libertarians don't think that. those are the anarchists. every libertarian recognizes the importance of the state, and while taxes are coercive (which goes against the libertarian thinking) there are no other known methods of making a first and second party pay when there is a third party that is not involved in the contract but feels the consequences (like toxic waste). And please don't call us libertarians. We are liberals. In the very true and classical meaning of it.

Well I am sick and tired of hearing your crap. The fumes that come of a modern cars exhaust is less polluted than the air that is going in the engine to burn. Yes, and LA would be a major candidate. Cars and their exhaust DO NOT CAUSE asthma and other respiratory diseases. They can provoke an occurrence but asthma is caused by BAD HYGIENE. true! Electric cars are not and never will be feasible. To take an electric car and bring it to 100km/h takes forever and 2 seconds, and when you get there you are already out of juice. And they are still confused by hills. This will not change even with today's advances in battery research. Toyota has already stated this, but nobody mentioned that in the news. The emissions from cars are not the most appropriate to tackle. The higher the carbon content of the fuel, the more CO2 will be emanated. But sadly for you ecoterrorists, it is not the car but the big bad coal power plants who is doing the mess. 7 Joggers do as much CO2 output as a WV Polo :)

correct. however these stones will not be used (hopefully), so the fallacy does not apply, as it never happened. however producing weapons does have its added value (putting metal together plus some explosives making a nuke - which comes from a uranium mine, giving jobs etc). so as long as it is not used, it is not a fallacy. the part with the misallocated worker i am not so sure about, but i tend to agree. please prove me wrong: defense is vital to any country, so allocating resources to it makes sense.

  17. True. on Is Typing Ruining Your Ability To Spell? · · Score: 1

It is about perceived effort and value. Writing a full letter on traditional paper involves the increased effort to foresee what will be written down, so that once in the middle of the letter you won't have to go back and correct it (which implies writing it all over again). This "fear" of errors decreases the likelihood of committing them. Topic, orthography, grammar and even calligraphy (which increases the likelihood of your message getting across) are all helped by this conscious effort. Whereas typing on a machine has made our lives easier in the sense of mass producing shit :) and tons of unneeded documents, but has severely diminished our abilities to write a simple sentence down on a piece of paper without making a fool of ourselves. Moreover, consider that in an organization almost 80% (citation needed) of all documents are all templates, the only requirement being the changing of some header or the person receiving this memo or whatnot. LOL :)

Honda is the only vehicle manufacturer that BETS its life on hydrogen. and after the decisions they made so far i think they might just make it.

this car was done as a technical exercise. see if it can be done. sure from your point of view this car is worthless, but consider the technical solutions in the veyron. for example, formula 1, ther racing forms and absurd car developers are there not only there to race, break millions of dollars, and pollute the air, but to test new technology. traction control, disc breaks, monocoques, wings etc were developed by engineers who "would benefit society directly" if employed somewhere else.

these guys probably saved more lives than you could imagine.

the veyron implications are huge: 407kmh with no shake, very stable and very comfortable. sure it eats 117L/100km but that is not the point of this vehicle.
