I've had an aluminum-brushed XPS m1330 for about four months now, and I've never experienced a "shock" like the article is suggesting. I don't doubt that the CNET editors have experienced this, but I'm certain I would have remembered it if it had happened to me.
I checked, and my 1330 has a grounded three-prong plug going into the wall, and a three-prong plug going in to the power brick. Maybe the UK 1330s/1530s are different than the American ones?
From prior discussions on/. I believe that's the case I can't wait for the day when I log on and find Slashdot citing legal precedent derived from cases instead of earlier Slashdot posts./can't wait to finish law school.
I really do think that it's about time for the GPL to be given an actual trial. I realize that it's probably in Monsoon's best interests to settle out of court, but I don't think that the SFLC should do that.
Some things in life are worth more than money: court victories for free software licenses are one of those things, I believe.
Lewis and Clark went first... they did indeed hit the Pacific at Seaside. However, the Oregon Trail was some time afterwards, and was composed of people who were actually moving west. Lewis and Clark were explorers, the first white men in the area, while the people who followed the Oregon Trail, as it was known, were settlers.
When Bush came to town, there were 3,000 people outside the building protesting. The vast majority of them were Calvin College professors, students and alumni. Calvin didn't ask him to come... he invited himself, of course.
I do understand your thinking though... Bush at Christian college = Jeebus making Christian professors think.
The instructions are written for Ubuntu Edgy, but they also work for Feisty if you use a newer driver from ATI's site and adjust the instructions accordingly. The instructions seem generic enough that they should work for other distros as well, although I don't want to be quoted on that.
This state legislator is merely a troll.
He is trying to be known as the person who protects your child from pedophiles. This bill will not pass the Illinois state senate, will not even go to the state house for consideration, and sure as hell will never be signed by the governor. Why?
1. It's unconstitutional, blatantly so.
2. It's a poorly written piece of crap: the thing it's attempting to restrict, "social networking" sites, isn't even defined.
3. The type of people that attempt to pass legislation like this rarely ever pass any substantive legislation.
Furthermore, if it does pass, the bill only applies to Illinois! I think a lot of people have a fuzzy conception of political boundaries. As soon as it was passed, all the other states would sue Illinois for violating the commerce clause of the bill of rights, or a federal court would find Illinois guilty of violating it, and overturn the state law.
This state senator is powerless, inept and not terribly bright, and us talking about his piece of crap bit of legislation is only encouraging him.
You know that everyone's just going to stick their cameraphone down their pants, and send pictures of their twig and berries to 911. This seems useful for police, etc, but I feel bad for whoever has to sort through all the pictures on the receiving end.
What is to prevent technologies like this from malfunctioning and frying everyone in the room? I'm not trolling, I'm just curious about the tech behind it.
I think it's clear how difficult it is to reverse-engineer wireless drivers for linux. Just look at how hard it is to get your Linux laptop's wireless card working correctly, and multiply it by a million.

And I could (and do) quote other verses which show bigoted Christians like mentioned above (and which put out this videogame we're supposedly all still talking about) that hating homosexuals et al is a sin.
The point isn't that some people who call themselves Christians (or religious in general or are human, even) are crazy: it's that not all Christians are like that. Including the ones who don't want Wal-Mart to sell this video game.
A progressive Christian is someone who actually does what the Bible says to do:
Love one's neighbor more than one's self
Loves God with all of their heart, soul and mind.
It's pretty much that simple. Any person that calls themselves a Christian but hates homosexuals, Muslims, non-Christians, liberals, etc. is sorely deluding themselves.
For me, it's not the AM/FM limitations so much...
It's just the suckiness of the music. If you set this thing up to record each unique song played in a 24 hour period on one particular station, you'd have just 20 different songs. Radio plays the same songs over and over again. Once you've recorded one days' worth of broadcasting, you'd be set for the next month... or whenever the radio station refreshes their playlist.
Amos agrees that MAYA-II could help researchers in this way. But he warns that the DNA molecules used cannot be controlled perfectly, and could be prone to the occasional malfunction.

You know, I bet you could use a gnu just as well as a cow. Same electrical power, higher meta factor.
"You're using a gnu to power a GNU-powered device? My mind just exploded!"

However, it's simply not true.

This also not a troll... I just figure that the people that read this thread might find this relevant.
I had a hellish time installing ATI drivers for my laptop with a Radeon Xpress 200M chipset on Ubuntu Edgy and Feisty.
I ended up following the instructions at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=321766 and it worked great.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger almost killed himself on a Hayabusa a year ago. Not wearing a helmet.
I think the Japanese Hayabusa will be in better shape after it crashes, though. :-)

That's an option that the Feds have that the average whitehat doesn't: calling in airstrikes against the DOSer.
A visual aid?

Can you at least spell "Windows" right?
It's not that hard, people.
Did anyone RTFA? MySpace has 140 million+ users on SQL Server servers? No comments from Slashdot on the implausibility of this?

Personally, I'm surprised that it took this long for OO to be compatible with Linux x64 systems.
I wonder... Is there Democracy in China?
It's there now...
.msi file, though. Looks like the source (or Linux tarballs) aren't up yet.
Direct link is http://psiphon.ca/download.php
Windows-only
Yes, but it just links to the "How" page... With no link to the download. The source isn't downloadable now either. :-(
Is there a working download link yet?
