...if you're planning to keep your current Beige G3, I'd recommend staying with what you have got. Many have already mentioned OSX's steep hardware requirements -- you're better off keeping your machine as is.
Better yet, wait til Panther comes out -- then order a shiny new G5!:)
...but keep a written list of activities and items you need to do for that day. By writing your 'To Do's' on a piece of paper (instead of typing it on your computer), you'll reinforce the idea that things have to get done. Paste up that list on your monitor, and as you accomplish a task, cross thru the item (don't erase). By seeing what you have accomplished, you will be further motivated to getting the other items done. Prioritize your work, and don't try to get everything done in one day. If that doesn't help, and you really want to kill some time, read my toon.:)
Did Disney ever upgrade Epcot Center's "World of Tomorrow" exhibit? I went there about 6 years ago, and the modern technology section talked about the introduction to computers (circa '82).
It's nice to see the IIGS mentioned on Slashdot. As for many others, I'm sure, it was my first introduction to computers -- heck, it WAS my first computer.
I used it quite a lot, from 1987 - 1996. I'm glad to see that development is still continuing. I only wish I could find a nice crisp RGB monitor (as my original one became blurry after years of use) to go with the computer. It's very cool to see that TCP/IP support is now available for these machines. On that note...
Anyone still actively using their IIGS for development/productive work?
There are rumors swirling about, that Apple is also working on an 'Office' suite of its own. Read into that what you will...
With MS competing apps (notably OpenOffice, StarOffice) out there gaining popularity with the Linux group, I'm fairly confident that Apple won't be left in the lurch for an Office-compatible suite.
MS Office is a huge source of revenue for MS Mac Business Unit. I would really be surprised if they killed it.
No one ever put a gun to your head to make you purchase the 3DVD set. You could always wait for the "ULTIMATE SUPER PLATINUM GIGA SPECIAL FU***ING" edition to come out and then purchase it.
I, myself, plan to buy the trilogy. I think the 4th Indy movie won't live up to the hype.
This movie left a really bad taste among Indians -- I bet nearly every Indian kid attending a US school was probably teased about the way Indians were portrayed by Lucas and Speilberg. Not all Indians are poor villagers, and the rich don't eat snakes.
Personally, I liked Temple of Doom, but being of Indian descent, I had to face my fellow seventh graders and constantly tell 'em "we don't eat snakes, monkey brains, etc."
Hell, my parents are vegetarian. After awhile, I just gave up, and started inviting my friends over to eat "monkey brains" for dessert. That shut 'em up good.

I wouldn't go so far as to say my childhood memories have been ruined by what I've seen on the Internet. Rather, it's been a great source for me to meet other fans of television shows, cartoons, and movies that I've been a fan of. There will always be the fringe element websites that spoofs or otherwise shatters the 'innocence' we had as kids watching these shows -- but why worry about it?
What I don't appreciate, however, is the fact that cartoons I used to view on TV have been severely edited to cut out "objectionable" bits. I guess that's what pisses me off the most. And to make matters worse, is the other crap on TV that's 10 times worse in terms of profanity and violence. As if kids aren't already exposed to this stuff.
Nice try. You're probably trying to get everyone to spam the person who's email address you've given. Why hide behind "Anonymous Coward" if that's not your intent?
My computer room is actually in the living room (because my wife and I are in a small one-bedroom apartment). I generally don't like to have the room really bright, but periodically we keep the patio door curtains open to let some sunlight in. You can see my setup here.
For ambience, try hooking up a nice lava lamp next to your monitor. It's soothing, and definitely a break for the eyes. That, and be sure to take at least 5 minute breaks so your eyes don't bug out.
Upgraded both the Pismo Powerbook and my Dual G4/450. No problems whatsoever, with the install, or post-install. I also enabled journaling on the dualie. I don't use iCal so I can't comment on that. However, I'll be testing iChat stability over the next few weeks.

all I can say is this is how it's going to be if we keep buying overseas.

Hi Brad,
;)
Tried to access your page, but it wouldn't load. Hopefully it wasn't slashdotted already.

Exactly. I wish this could happen to those Nigerian spammers.
This might shed some light on the innards and appearance of the new G5, for comparison purposes.
I'm sorry, but that was just nasty.
umm...tootin' my own horn, but give this site a whirl. :)
Well, The PC Weenies toon wasn't mentioned, but their website got a complete overhaul earlier this week.

So has this cartoonist.
Some do...but I don't think they take the cartoon as seriously. The Simpsons takes shots at everyone, so it's all good.

This is a great way to bring in new readers into stores. I applaud it, even though I stopped collecting (on a regular monthly basis) years ago.
On the other hand, the web has plenty of free comics -- it'd be great to somehow find a way to tie in web comics to this event.

HIlarious! The latest Elftor is a riot!
Anyone second that? :)

Cool that he's using a Mac. If Saddam's forces defect over to our side, will that make them switchers? :)
