Why on Earth would it give anybody pause that those three religions share the same concept of soul? I could say the same about Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and the Vedic religion.
They do that because they get better integration that way. For example, when you install Ubuntu, it installs OpenOffice with GNOME support, but when you install Kubuntu, it installs OpenOffice with KDE support. Plus all the art differences, etc. Plus, problems with KDE packages won't hold up an Ubuntu release and vice-versa.
Uh, that's because it's called/sbin/dhclient3. It's called that because that's what it's called in Debian.
I prefer the slackware way of/etc/rc.d/rc.X instead of/etc/init.d or/etc/rc.d/rc.(level)/rc.ssh
/etc/init.d is POSIX and SVR4 ccompliant. Additionally, all major distros that support LSB put it there: Red Hat, SuSE, etc. So, uh, it does use conventions.
Well, I suppose you could go out to your old man's place and install some high-power amplifiers, directional antennae, repeaters, etc. between your dad's friends place and his. Once the whole thing is setup, I've known it be fairly reliable
Applications would have to be certified in some way. Perhaps through SSL certificates issued by a root CA. And then have the OS refuse to install anything that doesn't have a verifiable root CA certificate by default.
Exactly. Neither my 8088, 80286 nor my 80386 boards had fans or heatsinks on the processors. I remember thinking "Wow, the 486 requires a FAN and a HEAT SINK? Damn, that thing must run hot!"
So yeah, we could have a copy of a dead friend etc. Unlikely though... And all that.
Other than lack of technology to wipe the brain, force grow and transfer the memories, what else do you think makes it unlikely? Because you still seem unconvinced, despite your clearly atheistic/agnostic philosophical beliefs.
Also, out of interest, by believing a "soul", does that mean you are a dualist? That is, do you believe that there is more to the world then the "mere" physical? Do you have any proof for this, and if so, can you provided it?
I'm not necessarily a dualist, but I believe there is more to the world than the physical mundane world we see everyday, yes. Cosmologists and theoretical physicists have predicted the existence of "parallel universes." What if you exist here and your 'soul' exists in one of these parallel universes, perhaps with some sort of link? What if your 'soul' is just the link between you in this universe and you in a parallel universe? By the way, what, exactly, defines "you"? Are you just a collection of cells, chemicals and memories? What are memories made of? What are thoughts made of?
Science has not proved conclusively that there is no soul, so science doesn't say that it doesn't exist, it just says that a soul has not been observed and perhaps cannot be observed with current understanding, therefore science really has no comment on the existence of a soul. To say that there is no soul is an opinion, not a fact.
People don't buy video games for an actor in the same way they go see a movie for an actor in it.
Yes, but isn't that begging the question? (first correct usage of beg the question!:P) The actors are saying that they aren't getting enough money, but they're also complaining they're not getting enough credit -- they don't highlight the actors the way they do, say, on a movie DVD box.
Love ya!

Uh, yeah, but there are a LOT of payday check cashing places.
So did anyone NOT see this coming?

Uh, that's because it's called
So was it a Packard-Bell or an Acer Aspire?

I use VirtualBox and back up the HDD image file to a D/L DVD+/-R(W).
You're right. Maybe they could be complete operating systems not nearly as vulnerable to attack through viruses and other malware. :-D

And that's just it. In the end, it always fails at some point. It's more a question of "when" and "how often".
Yep. And that's the reason why Jack Thompson and Tyndale are no longer on speaking terms.
WTF? Someone modded me insightful! Mods can't possibly be that dumb can they? (Yeah, yeah, I must be new around here... ;)
Of course, now they're just par for the course.
I predict a lot shorter now that the page with the video is linked on the Slashdot front page.! ;)

Good point, but what do you see onthis Shrek 2 poster? And flip that DVD over, what's on the back?
Now what do you see on your copy of GTA4?
